I. Fucking. Loved. This game. Mouthwashing had a great impact on me and I needed to make some fan art of it. It’s definitely deserving of the awards and praise it’s won. It’s my favorite indie horror game out there right now and more people need to play it or experience it. @wrongorgan.bsky.social

I was actually happy at the idea of dropping the expanded universe, but a large majority of what's replaced it was either mid or EU but worse. RoS represents the worst of the disney SW: wanting to be new but being so reluctant to not shove regurgitated mediocrity in our faces everymoment it's scared

I just reminded myself that Fightcade is one of the coolest things you can have installed on your PC. A social emulator package that keeps it simple and even auto-downloads roms for you.

Browse thousands of arcade games, challenge people in ranked multiplayer with rollback netcode or chill solo.

Will is not only a really cool person who deserves work, but his work is always consistently capital-g great. He works incredibly hard to ensure quality and consistency, and everything he does speaks to the convictions and character he has.

Support him however you can.

Just found out my wife might be losing her job, so I'm desperately searching for work. Contract, full-time, freelance, whatever. Press, PR, consulting, anything. I have 16 years of editorial experience and have been writing about games for 13. Reviews, news, previews, guides, etc. RTs appreciated.

There's no reforming our government out of this, not without radical reform on the level of overthrowing the government and having a constitutional convention.

Fuck everyone who enables and supports imperialism, wars based on lies, and genocide-denial.

When @lexluddy.xyz asked me to contribute to Startmenu's Winter Spectacular, I had another piece in mind. Then I changed it. Then changed it again.

I ended up writing about a bad year, my personal failings, and believing in something, even when it costs you. This was the one I had to write.

'Few games capture the spirit of indie game development quite like VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action. What initially started out as a short game for a Cyberpunk Game Jam back in 2014, soon became a standout indie hit. VA-11 Hall-A delivers a heartfelt story of happiness in the depths of disaster, draped in a unique cyberpunk aesthetic and set to a distinctive synthwave soundtrack to match. It’s a truly remarkable visual novel, and the perfect choice for our Design Works range.

Produced in collaboration with Sukeban Games and Ysbryd, VA-11 Hall-A: Design Works explores the corrupt metropolis of Glitch City, its culture, and the people who frequent the game’s beloved hole in the wall, VA-11 Hall-A. Written by talented journalist and author Ashley Schofield (Polygon, EDGE, Unwinnable and VGC), you’ll hear how this world came to be and the cyberpunk touchstones that inspired it β€” all the while lending insight into the history of Venezuela, where the team is located, and the unique challenges of developing a game there. VA-11 Hall-A: Design Works will be a celebration of this beautiful indie masterpiece, and the people that made it all possible.

Alongside contemporary interviews with writer/programmer Fernando Damas and artist/designer Christopher Ortiz conducted exclusively for VA-11 Hall-A: Design Works, the book also features a collection of highlights from the β€˜Daily VA-11 Hall-A’ blog posts directly from Sukeban.moe. You can also expect deep dives into the development of the game’s prototype and prologue; the bartending mechanics that put you in the shoes of disaster bisexual bartender Jill Stingray, and interviews exploring its iconic synthwave soundtrack/jukebox with composer Michael Kelly.

A magazine cover of Unwinnable Monthly #191, with the feature being my essay 'I Don't Want To Be This Kind of Animal Anymore' and art by Shafer Brown.

An excerpt reads:

In the dark times, should the stars also go out?

'Revachol is still. Silent. Decades of unrest, corruption and capital gain have reduced it to a shell of a city. And yet, under these sullen skies, a miracle is happening. The limbed and headed machine of pain and undignified suffering is firing up again.'

Claire replies: "yeah", no capitalization or punctuation. I think Claire's chill, occasionally deadpan responses are pretty humorous.

Just played through A Short Hike.
I love this #indiegame and recommend it to everyone.

You have to experience its charms firsthand: little moments add up into an emergent story unique to your playthrough.

Work + life have me a bit burnt out lately. I really needed A Short Hike, and am glad for it.
