Ugh, don't get me started on the aesthetics-- everything is desaturated! It looks so dull and dingy. I have a whole rant just about the character design of Steppenwolf in JL:SC.

Contempt for both the source material and for those who genuinely enjoy the source material. "You know this colorful fun thing you like? Wow, what a dumb silly thing, and you like it, you dorks; here, I made it serious and grown up and edgy. Now it's cool. You're welcome."

There's just something about the Snyder superhero movies (and come to think, the Bay Transformers movies while we're at it) that I don't think there's anything so sophisticated as a deconstruction or subversion. It's contempt.

Because it's not just half the bills. It's half the bills plus most if not all the housework and emotional labor.

Im not a Shakespeare head but a good performance really does make clear how friggin good he was. I watched the Titus movie and theres a bit where anthony hopkins lays down on a road and declares that the rocks are his only friends and it was such a pure moment of "same girly pop"
