If you haven't found the Danish show Borgen on Netflix, now would be a good time to watch. It's like the Danish West Wing, but a little bit better. I hope Netflix commissions another mini-series in light of recent events.
Its not an Insurrection, we all know it's not an Insurrection. Trump wouldn't know what to do with quelling a non-Insurrection and maybe this one more thing will expose him for the fool he is.
I think Walz should call for mass peaceful protests and lead a surrounding circle of hands around key Federal Buildings and call Trump's bluff.
When I was a kid, I knew my Dad was at DefCon 2 when he would threaten a spanking. What I didn't realize was that the humiliation and drama of the spanking was much worse than the slap on my ass. I think we're at the same point with Trump and the Insurrection Act.
Where is the civility? Where's the respect.for the taxpayer? Why do our federal police look like they are all about to deploy to Afghanistan?
While it ultimately pales in comparison, I am kind of struck by the violent escalation of the approaching officer who starts with "get out of the car" and goes immediately to using the f word before any reasonable person would even be able to evaluate whether that is something they wanted to do.
In December I completed another lap around the Sun. I'm dangerously close to my mid-fifties! I usually find myself reflecting back on how I might have achieved more, but this year I find I am looking more forward to the future. I'll do my best to make it fun and rewarding for folks around me.

Just got back from a short trip to Whistler, BC. We had planned to visit Beaver Creek, CO, but there are only a handful of runs open and it just didn't seem worth it. Whistler, however, delivered. Great snow, always great aprés. Their only real problem is the shear number of people versus the
Big pivot today, shifting our ski vacation from Beaver Creek, CO to Whistler, BC. When less than 20 trails are open, it's just hard to justify the travel. It's raining here at the base of Whistler Village and we're hoping for great snow tomorrow.

A New Years resolution for me is going to be posting more to Blue Sky. I don't really know what to do about Social Media anymore. I mostly pay attention to Facebook to see occasional updates from friends and to follow certain sailing and skiing groups. But, I'm not really interacting or engaging.
Wish I had made it to the U Street location to get the half-smoke breakfast, but National hooked me up for my fix.
Made a trip back to Old DC this week and I have to say I've got a lot of FOMO feels. What a dynamic and amazing city! Need to visit more often.

Does it matter if the Nasdaq was up 12.16% today given that it's still down from a week ago? This wasn't fixing things, these are traders taking advantage of volatility. If Trump continues by "winning the daily headlines," he will continue to erode confidence in the US Bond and destroy our economy.
We are walking a fine line right now with the Trump administration barely respecting the judicial branch. If Grassley's tariff bill even gets close to a veto proof passage, we'll finally be in a true constitutional crisis because Trump will ignore it.
Which will last longer, a head of lettuce or Trump's idiotic tariffs? Personally, I bet we will see some of these new tariffs rolled back by Tuesday afternoon.
