In the early years of my pro convention career I had a productive conversation with the guy helming an up-and-coming con with a table at Katsucon. Seemed like a great lead. He gave me to a point-of-contact that I hit up after the event with a refresher pitch, where someone else brushed me off with a line that sticks with me to this day: " we do not pay for programming." A copy of that email was framed. Initially as a little inspiration piece. Now I look back on it as both an iconic highlight of disingenuous behavior by for-profit cons, and something to laugh about when the same group surveys its attendees about how to add value to their badge.

Sometimes you have to resort to drastic measures when archiving old disks. Here's my 'repair kit' for 5.25" disks that are so filthy that they have to be extracted from their case and thoroughly cleaned. Placed back in a clean donor sleeve so that they can be read.
