The cover of Crawl Space, a novella by Steve Toase
An inspection panel bolted to a pipe in a cellar. The panel is rusted and held with two nuts. It wouldn't take much to unfasten it. You shouldn't, should you?
Time to unseal the pneumatic tubes and discover the Crawl Space. Publication day!
So happy to see my little weird horror novella venture into the world to collect teeth and the broken of the world.

Darlings, a moment.
Lean in to what brings you joy -- big or small. Joy matters.
Reach out to *who* brings you joy -- near or far. Connection matters.
Stand up/speak up for what matters -- as often as you can. Your voice mattters.
Gather love close. Offer kindness whenever you can.

This is one reason why you should always credit the artist and designer of your book cover when you post it. Make it easy for people to see you've hired real humans to wrap your words in something beautiful. Something worthy.

Hey.
Tell people when they do good job.
When you like the stuff they make.
When you like the characters they’ve created.
The stories they’ve told.
Nobody hears it as often as you think bc everyone thinks everyone hears it all the time.
Trust. They don’t.
Tell. Them.

Very hopeful that I'm seeing the end of this cold and hoping (knock on wood) for no more health issues for a while? That would be lovely.

@historyneverwas.bsky.social’s Last Dam Standing in @analogsf.bsky.social depicts an almost cosy community of #mutualaid, albeit amidst ecological collapse. Mournful, a preemptive grief.
But something about a resilient, capable female scientist enduring the apocalypse still fuels my #hope.

Do you have any interest in a small, plush, crocheted version? I have crocheted brains already, and I could add noodly arms and weights. :)

A newly discovered Christian world chronicle from the early eighth century offers fresh insights into the political and religious upheavals from Late Antiquity to the rise of Islam. Researchers at the...
Don't want to get my hopes up, but this sounds genuinely exciting. The seventh century is one of the most important era's in Western Eurasian history, witnessing the rise of Islam, the end of Ancient Persia, and the dramatic reduction of Eastern Rome losing its status as Mediterranean Empire.

On day 7 of a gross cold that we think hubbie brought home from work. He's been sick for at least 11 days now. This sucks. We're lucky to have sick time and the ability to work from home (when our brains allow it), but I'd really prefer to not be sick at all.
