To be fair, height and weight are self-reported. Let’s get the stats on your DL and verify them with a measuring stick and a scale buddy. You walk the walk, no?
Rep. Abi Boatman
It’s interesting but it‘s interesting in the way say one’s slightly more sophisticated conversion therapist is interesting. Like at the end of the day…why would I want to grow up (or have one’s kids grow up) to be you?
What I think we all gotta eventually realize is like, you’ve gotta live your own life. You can’t live your life through (controlling) someone else much as you can’t live your life solely at the dictates of someone else. The individual human spirit resists.
Trite to say but there’s something notable about how hateful and miserable these types are. Like of course he sees himself in Bojack Horseman
Anyway I think this latest incarnation of conversion therapy will work about as well as the previous ones. Repression is repression is repression.
One can get a feel for this kind of viewpoint from memoirs of well-to-do, secularish people who live in blueish areas and are furious that their former partners or their family members transitioned. If JS can’t maintain the thin veneer of high-minded, objective, caring oppo—well that’s it for him
He writes what he writes for people who are posting furiously about their trans adult children on 4thWaveNow or whatever. But like also a lot of these people live in liberal communities and are worried about saving face. Trying to dial in just the right amount of transphobia lol
Well yeah his whole thing is trying to launder transphobia as something other than gutter bigotry. That efforts to limit access to transition is motivated by religious animus not by reasonable/sympathetic/“scientific” concerns of loving parents undercuts the whole case of the anti-trans side.
If you’d prefer, it’s a garbled analogy and it detracts from the real point which is that we should not have assassinated Khomeini.
Try rereading what I wrote—you’ll find it pleasantly clarifying.
*Rokita. Wrt implementation of BMV policy eg www.wfyi.org/news/article...
Sorry, not about Rotika, about the BMV and the state legislature
Very very recent Indiana legal news, might have interesting legal implications here: www.aclu-in.org/press-releas...
I agree with your interpretation of how that might be affecting his thinking—personally I would have included that info because it provides helpful context to try to predict his decision-making.
a variety of Indiana news sources and, to my mind, relevant to understanding what’s happening at present for trans Hoosiers and what might be affecting Rokita’s decision-making.
I was surprised your latest article did not mention the recent death of SB 182 in the Indiana state legislature or reporting on how the change in BMV policy on gender markers was actually carried out earlier this month (I did read your article from Jan on coming change). Good reporting on both in
Glad to hear! We are definitely concerned. Info from on-the-ground sources always vital and best for helping directly affected individuals plan next steps, wrt advocacy and etc
7. The committee vote on the bathroom bills will occur this Monday. If it passes, it will move to the full House floor.
6. Meanwhile, trans people talked about the terrifying threats they face when unilaterally forced into the bathroom of their sex assigned at birth. One trans woman, a state employee, testified that she had been harassed and assaulted in the men’s room.
5. Republicans argued that inclusive bathroom policies could facilitate acts of sexual violence; constituents pointed out that rape is already illegal, regardless of where it occurs. And as one mom of a trans girl pointed out, “Predators don’t obey signs.”
4. The bans would impact trans people in colleges, airports, rest stops, stadiums, and more. They would even eliminate all-gender multi-stall bathrooms.
3. Kansas, which sits on the western border of Missouri, recently and suddenly revoked many trans people’s driver’s licenses and state IDs. The measure was surreptitiously snuck into a trans bathroom ban bill at the eleventh hour.

2. “This is a make-or-break moment with what just happened in Kansas,” Rep. Wick Thomas, the state’s only openly trans representative, told Erin in the Morning.
Trump OC @realDonald Trump THE SAVE AMERICA ACT! 1. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. (IDENTIFICATION!). 2. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP IN ORDER TO VOTE. 3. NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPT FOR ILLNESS, DISABILITY, MILITARY, OR TRAVEL!). 4. NO MEN IN WOMEN'S SPORTS. 5. NO TRANSGENDER MUTILATION SURGERY FOR CHILDREN, WITHOUT THE EXPRESS WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE PARENTS. 5 Likes Mar 05, 2026, 9:38 AM Q
He’s so bad at transphobia.
1. Missouri appears to be forging ahead with 3 bathroom bans in public buildings across the state.
They heard 3 bills in a single night on the topic.
Lawmakers are worried that we could see what happened to Kansas happen there too.
The latest from our writer S. Baum.
@transitics.substack.com Did your investigation involve talking to any trans people in Indiana, organizations advocating on our behalf, or their contacts? If not, wanna do a follow-up?
I guess with social media attention-getting and resulting fundraising 🙄 but I can’t help but feel that there’s a more responsible way to report this that actually might help those of us directly affected and this, to my read, is not it.
Would not be surprising given that Rokita’s nasty. This article (which has info that hasn’t been reported elsewhere) is causing panic in the community. Current thinking is Rokita’s decision making may be influenced by how Kansas lawsuit goes. Anyway spreading panic to nat’l audiences helpful
