My favorite halftime show ever. Beautiful, joyful, political. It was perfect.

My jaw dropped and told him I was just thinking about that and I felt like he just read my mind. We chatted for a moment and for whatever reason that little connection with another human on my commute made me happy.
Today I was standing on a busy street crossing waiting for the light to change while busses flew by a few feet away. I had an intrusive thought: if someone shoved me from behind as one passed Iβd die. The guy standing next to me turns to me and says βI saw a guy get hit here last week.β
Still coming down from that #seahawks win. My watch recorded my heart rate in the 4th and OT as 12 minutes of exercise and gave me a decibel warning from my own screaming. One that I will never forget!
NCAR is quite literally our global mothership.
Everyone who works in climate and weather has passed through its doors and benefited from its incredible resources.
Dismantling NCAR is like taking a sledgehammer to the keystone holding up our scientific understanding of the planet.
Unbelievable.
once again the best trump rejoinder is βfuck you, make meβ
Iβve been struggling with the implications of widespread AI use in education- my gut says that the bad outweighs the good. This excellent piece validated a lot and was an absolute gut punch to read. I want more resistance.
A frenchie in a white chicken costume.
Happy Halloween from Arlo the chicken!
The East Wing of the White House ripped open by machinery.
My travels to Poland have taught me that painstakingly restoring destroyed historic buildings is possible. It wonβt be the same but it will be better than a gaudy golden ballroom standing as a reminder of our abject failure as a country to stop this POS.
Proud of the Mariners and thankful we got to experience October baseball even though it nearly killed me with stress. Looking forward to seeing the Jays destroyed by the Dodgers. Their dumb HR jacket is the douchiest thing Iβve ever seen.
I may have cried a little
I hate baseball, Iβve been having a heart attack for like 5 hours now.
The world is on fire, but go Mariners
What the fuck @npr.org
We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
A photo of primatologist Jane Goodall sitting on the ground and smiling. A young Chimpanzee sits next to her resting its back against her side.
RIP Jane Goodall. Her work captivated me as a girl and inspired me to be a scientist. She showed us the depth of animal lives and emotions while going against the scientific consensus at the time. Her voice is needed so badly at this time and it will be missed. Thank you, Jane.
Heβs all out of ideas on how to be shocking isnβt he

u know who are skeptics
scientists are skeptics
being anti-science is not being a skeptic
I wonder when Trump will send the National Guard to Utah to get it under control. Seems a bit unhinged over there
me: magic isnβt real
also me, after the Mariners win eight in a row: the Etsy witch is real, and she is my president
Got my Covid booster today at a CVS in WA.
The pharmacist said they could only give doses those over 65 and those who were high risk. She all but winked and said βwe donβt have to ask condition you have, you just have to say yes.β
Itβs stupid you have to do that but at least itβs available.
Good morning!
MAGA/MAHA dude Jay Bhattacharya will forever be remembered as RFK Jrβs biggest champion (he campaigned for him/spoke at his rallies) & the NIH director who presided over the destruction of US health researchβincluding childhood brain cancer research π€¬

CDC headquarters windows with visible bullet holes
I took this picture myself at the CDC protest today. These are among the hundreds of bullet holes in CDC headquarters windows, visible from the street. I heard today that the admin has no urgent plan to fix these windows.
Imagine being a CDC employee going to work under these conditions
Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me? Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.
this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like
Itβs mind boggling how many additional people this administration is killing.
βI have been in this business for over 50 years on the front lines of public healthβ¦And I can say unequivocally that this was the most dangerous public health decision I have ever seen made by a government body.β
Same, but my brain defaults to the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme.
BREAKING: Scientists are staging a βscience fairβ in the lobby of a Congressional building to tell elected officials about the critical knowledge the US will lose because their research grants have been canceled.
Heads up if you live in Seattle, Chicago, Philly, DMV, and NYC.
