When it comes to holding the feds accountable for violence against protesters in cities like Minneapolis & PDX, lawsuits can & do make a difference. In PDX, NPAP member Ashlee Albies worked alongside @aclu-or.bsky.social to secure a TRO that will block uses of force including tear gas & munitions.

This is not only a due process issue, it increases the likelihood of civil rights abuses. Detention centers are at capacity. Overcrowding leads to unconstitutional conditions. This will worsen conditions for a vulnerable population already denied adequate medical care, sanitary housing & nutrition.

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past.

It will fuel ICE’s push to transfer people to Texas immediately.
