This is why I had to take a break when watching Discovery. One big threat in a series I can be okay with, but when it is always a giant threat, it is hard to keep caring. And it is hard to make the stakes matter when they are so impersonal. At least SFA had many episodes not about the threat.

Just a reminder, there actually is a fort-building and hanging out in religious holiday. It is called Sukkot. And between Sukkot, Purim, and Passover, I was quite happy to not celebrate Christmas.

All of my names have reasonable and common alternative spellings. On the plus side, there are a lot of possible combinations of writing out my full name. Is that a plus side?

This is very true. Although taking antibiotics for viruses does happen, it is a small issue comparatively. And with human use underuse is likely a bigger issue. People do not finish their course of antibiotics because they start feeling better, which increases the risk of developing a harmful strain

Yes! I enjoyed it, but was annoyed reviewers I watched did not mention that the solution was obvious for ages. And it being so obvious and not being the plan sooner did weaken the episode for me, but I did still like watching it. The show is fun, which lets me forgive a lot.

Each fiber craft has different strengths and weaknesses. I feel like loom knitting really best suits my disabilities. I would love to crochet, but it feels like the most visually intense. If you have a craft you are happy with, that is awesome. But if you don't, it is really worth trying a few.

I have gotten into loom knitting and super chunky slipper socks are pretty easy to make and great for people like me who need a lot of extra warmth. Congrats on getting into sock knitting. I am working my way down to being good enough with thinner yarn.

It didn't cost me much. In fifth grade I had a substitute teacher who seemed abusive. I called her out. I had to sit in front of the class separate. Later, my normal teacher asked what happened and when I explained, she said that sub would never teach in her class again.

Yeah, but forcing me to talk to a human regularly seems bad for them. I think part of it is that the insurance part has a bunch of security precautions built in that are actively stupid. Like that my password expires and needs to be reset at about the same frequency as I need new cpap parts.

Reminds me of my insurance's cpap parts supplier. Their web site is amazingly bad (which is frustrating as they also have a full pay commercial web site that works smoothly). Their automated phone process is also awful. So, I have to talk to a person each time I want more cpap parts.

The real research into bystander apathy and also when it tends not to apply. That info has real-world safety value by knowing it. And we need to stop spreading misunderstandings of Kitty Genovese's murder and instead discuss actual studies.

My nephew, when young, saw something uncomfortable online. So, he then asked his mother to help him pre-screen his internet use. And she did so for him until he was older and more comfortable and ready to handle more.

First Christmas with my first boyfriend, I planned with my bf to sneak his mom's favorite candy into the stockings, after I found out that stockings worked by her always doing it all. It was a small thing, but the look on her face when she saw the extra candy was awesome. Make your own magic.

Also, technically you should not use that term either as it discusses internal psychology that may not apply. Just use terms that refer to actions like "child molester" or "child rapist". Those terms apply to children of all stages of development and regardless of the abuser's preferences.

My first thought was the world would end, but I think the answer is chess. I do not like chess, and I am very bad at it. But if I needed to become a pro chess player to save the world, and I had years to practice, it's the best chance we'd have. And I think chess technically is considered a sport.

Woah... abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina is what took away most of my vision in my left eye. This probably would not have helped me for complex reasons, but helping with the slower version of this problem is amazing. Demonstrates how awful the US is for being anti health care and research.

This is a fair and good point. But the A in DARVO stands for Attack. Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender. And it is extremely common among all sorts of abusers, so very good to understand and pay attention to. The more you can spot DARVO, the more you can spot people acting in bad faith.

Although in fairness to my school, I did only go three to four days a week. But usually they told me what I missed during my absences. My health was really bad when I was in high school. I suppose it's possible I missed day they explained how to write a paper.

My high school assigned several research papers, but didn't teach us how to write them. I didn't learn about a thesis statement until my older brother was helping me edit a paper I wrote. I just had a paper of - this is stuff I found out and wrote down with references.

Television is not recommended below the age of 2, because fake social interactions damage social development. Around age 2 a typical child understands that tv isn't interacting with them. AI seems an obvious similar danger and to a later age. Humans need to be socialized by humans.

I didn't know I was invisible. I am visually impaired so cannot legally or safely drive. But I do exist. I also think about people pushed to drive by lack of better options and can legally, but who know it would be safer for them not to. Better options would take some of them off the roads.

I was poor and sick and could not afford cable (or streaming had it existed). I had a box set of Sports Night and little ability to do much but lie around and watch TV. I have seen every single episode many, many times. If you have to be stranded with just one show, it's one of the better options.
