5 years into astrophotography. Wild ride w. some incredible experiences and friends along the way. Lots of failing, lots of learning. In short, life.

Wolf Spider

Recently deceased, missing fangs and legs, but still a nice subject for a shot.

My best so far. Slow progress 🤷🏻‍♂️.

At 1.75in, this jewel beetle is quite large for my setup. The head barely fits in view at my widest magnification. (The full body shot is with my iPhone)

Thoughts?

Thanks so much, Yaffi! I’m shooting with a Canon R5 and a Laowa 25mm 2.5x-5x on a Cognisys focusing rail. Never shot studio stuff before, so flash/diffusers/lighting and posing is something wildly unfamiliar! And then there’s insect prep and the processing 🤯. Fun to learn tho:) What’s your setup?

Are these the same family as nightjars?
