Whoahly shit, it’s almost as if republicans are better at excercising power.
youtu.be/ys-0r6sHV8M?...
I mean, was this ever in question?
The ball-knower assessment was that they would make things painful in other ways, which hasn't turned out to be the case for other reasons, but I feel like the ball-knower take was the military was worthless beyond missiles (to a point), and had been for a while
Themselves or the Iranians.
Laughs having done a deep dive into the Kargil war far too early in life.
The houthis should really go back to being a militia trying to overthrow a govt they were really much better at it.
Ftr you can admit that the Ayatollahs, the regime they built, and their cronies are evil and that any chance for the Iranian people to have freedom is good while also understanding the reasons Trump’s war of choice is deeply ill advised.
Some words from an Iranian via a cool content creator it might be worth listening.

Holy hell fighting words. 😂😂
Reminder that people in Iran are still living under repressive conditions where security forces can still knock on someone’s door. Not everything needs to be geolocated and shared publicly, especially footage filmed from inside buildings that could reveal someone’s home.

Well this is interesting.
Anyone who has studied military coup dynamics would pay sooo much money to be a fly on one of those walls.
There are a lot of reports about the Ayatollah's death, reporting is relying on Israeli sources, there is no independent or even other sources. It is likely that even significant elements of the regime do not have definite information so be wary.
Khamenei may be dead, underground, or injured.
man I wish I had known this when I was younger 😂
Good god AI companies are being more responsible than the fucking Department of Defense.
I honestly don’t know what will happen on Iran, I will say I don’t have any sympathy for the regime thier brutality is akin to the Assads they backed.
I will say I do not trust the current US administration to get it right or anywhere close to it the day after.
The repression of the Pashtun Taffahuz movement over the last few years which was a peaceful Pashtun civil rights movement creates the a fertile ground for recruitment for groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban as peaceful options for opposition have been violently suppressed. This is a ticking time bomb.
The challenge to the stability of the Pakistani state that Pashtun nationalism and the Durand line poses is something that is one of those 3rd rails of international politics that doesn’t get talked about but has the possibility to create real danger. In turn the Pak military has created escalation.
Well well well …
Motherfucker.
I can remember the giant map I drew on the whiteboard first tracking the buildup then the invasion itself
Well shit
Good lord.
“You’re not gonna be able to air it.”
“This is an Australian news program. We use that word as an adverb.”
However due to the domestic factors mentioned above American staying power is debatable. As such the Trump is embroiling us in a war of choice that opens up a Syria or larger sized can of worms that we realistically do not have the will to help clean up. And may help break us. 10/10
Because of this whenever the next rising against the regime occurs, it will be far more violent and far uglier and far more regional. And in turn may look like Syria or the Congo or may have the potentiality too which given the nuclear program may necessitate on the ground intervention. 9
However that civil society which came out to protests in the towns and cities was slaughtered by the thousands or tens of thousands. It may not come out again as a unified or mostly peaceful force. In turn many of the people who would’ve built a new government at the regional level are dead. 8
There are regional players, the Kurds, Azeris, Khuzestanis, Balochis and others that will likely begin to clash with regional fragments of the regime and IRGC and Basij. Then there is the question of what Artesh units do. Before the crackdown it might have been different. 7
What does this all mean for potential futures in Iran? Put simply the US likely does not have the stomach for a long irregular fight on the ground. Iran is a deeply diverse, deeply regional, country. The moment the regime in Tehran falls it will fracture into regional power centers or simply chaos 6
