What I wish every beginner artist knew about patience is that mastery takes time. Be kind to yourself as you learn, and understand that every artist faces challenges along the way.

Gouache: I love you, but why do you dry so fast?! Anyone else constantly battling the clock? ⏳🎨

What I wish every beginner artist knew about comparing themselves to others is that every artist's journey is unique. Focus on your own growth and progress, and celebrate your individual milestones.

The ‘Oops’ Moments: That feeling when you accidentally ruin a painting with one wrong stroke... but then you remember—gouache can be used opaquely to fix anything! ✨ 😅 Who else loves the versatility of gouache?

Anyone else feel like color mixing is like a science experiment? One drop too many and you’ve created something unidentifiable! 😂🎨

If you want to make it as an artist, stop waiting for inspiration to strike. Start creating, and inspiration will find you in the process.

What I wish every beginner artist knew about fear is that it's a normal part of being creative. Rather than allowing it to stop you, use it as a driving force to push through and challenge yourself.

2) Limit multitasking—I focus on one task at a time to reduce overwhelm

Most people don’t know this, but building an artist’s career isn’t just about talent. While skill opens doors, it’s persistence, adaptability, and the courage to keep learning that truly shape success. Talent may spark the journey, but resilience keeps the fire burning. 🔥

If I could go back and change one thing, I’d make decisions bolder and faster. Those who iterate, test, and adapt quickly—without getting stuck in overthinking—find progress and results so much sooner.

Here’s the truth about making it as an artist: you need endless patience and the grit to get up every time you stumble. It’s not just talent; it’s the determination to keep going, to improve, and to believe in your vision, even when you’ve been knocked down more times than you can count. 💪

Feeling nostalgic for the epic Norwegian landscapes that first drew me into gouache. These scenes are from my recent travels - places that stayed with me long after I packed up my paints. Some of these pieces mark the beginning of my gouache journey. Hope you enjoy them! 🌱

Artists, I wish I knew this sooner: it’s easy to lose the joy in painting when you focus on the 'shoulds' instead of your true passions. When I leaned back into what I loved painting, the joy came rushing back. Follow your passion; that's where the magic lives. ✨
