Came around a bend in the trail and he was there. Scrambled to get the telephoto lens on and got this shot. He was aware of us, but we weren't very close (this is a cropped 200mm shot). Sat quietly and watched for awhile until more hikers came along and disturbed the tranquility.

A few more of the Tetons. So spectacular how they rise up so steeply from the valley below. Really interesting geologic history.
The last one in this group is a view from up on top of Rendezvous Mountain.

Would love to see an image that isn't such low res.

Spectacular composition. Sometimes it's hard to capture the enormous size of these trees, but this does it. Nice job.

That is a pretty cool spot. But, I think it's quite a challenge to capture how cool it feels in a photo vs. being there - at least that was my experience a couple years ago.

A couple of moose calves just outside of Jackson, Wyoming. Momma was back in the brush.

It is indeed. It's a bit hard to get to (no "official" trail for the last mile or so and pretty steep). But, lots of people go anyway.

Wildflowers a plenty on the hike to Amphitheater Lake in the Tetons in mid July.

Very cool composition. I could see that hanging on a wall in a company as art, but also for the message it conveys.
That's a heck of a day hike! More than we're up to. We had the pleasure of bear and moose in Cascade Canyon.
The fog gives it a unique look. We also hiked into Cascade Canyon, but didn't go nearly as far as you (we were just day-hiking). Beautiful area.

I don't know the answer to that. There has been lots of vertical movement (over 30,000' of uplift) so it seems unlikely to me that it's still at the exact same angle as it formed, but that's just a guess.
Gorgeous. Care to share where this is? I spent 15 days in the eastern sierras last summer/fall and plan to do so again this year.
A closeup view of the 800' dike in the Middle Teton Peak (the vertical stripe of dark rock) that was the result of molten basalt squeezing into a crack in the already formed rock that today makes up the peak.

I don't usually post pictures of rocks, but I thought this boulder on the hike to Taggart and Bradley Lakes in Teton National Park was quite extraordinary.
Any geologists want to explain how this came to be?
