Two requests to review for palliative care journals in two weeks. I am interdisciplinary but palliative care is not one of my ticks. Does not compute, or does it?

We all need to know where the fastness of science comes from and that just around the corner is the school of gin and tonics.....

Teaching myself how to teach ethics, I learned case studies are a powerful tool. But really, wtf - a refugee chatbot to teach you in a sanitised way about ethics in the field? There is so much wrong with this that even starting the project probably should not have passed ethics review. #Ai4Good ?
Turns out transparency and explainability are probably not going to be protecting us from unfair automated systems. Interesting research into what happens when you explain how an algorithm makes decisions to users - they find it even harder to spot problems: www.fca.org.uk/publication/...

Friends, for something to be open source, we need to see
1. The data it was trained & evaluated on
2. The code
3. Model architecture
4. Model weights.
DeepSeek only gives 3, 4. And I'll see the day that anyone gives us #1 without being forced to do so, because all of them are stealing data.

Holy moly. I'm trying to write an academic paper, and nearly every application I'm using is not only offering Generative AI as an option for writing, but *pushing it* -- pervading the design to the point where a simple misclick would make my content AI-generated. Here's why that's a problem. π§΅

Gist of #UDIWritersCollective chapter: Urban Digital Infrastructures risk marginalisation they also privilege some over others in ways that remain understudied. Just like gentrification, uncapped this may quickly deepen urban divides = call for more research! @fennaimara.bsky.social
Chapter on #Urban #DigialInfrastrutures and the reproduction of #privilege is out! Publishing it as a writers collective acknowledging that our expert informants made the chapter possible. Convincing the publisher of this was harder than writing the chapter! link.springer.com/chapter/10.1...
