"We hosted that Iranian ship. They disarmed for our naval exercise. Then America attacked."

India's ex-FM just exposed the setup.

The UK stays silent when our "allies" pull stunts like this.

Long past time we had some radical change in education. Ofsted are hugely problematic and we need to be able to put children back at the centre rather than the constant pressure on children and young people. Pretty much every conversation I have with educators IRL is about this.

Psychologist: Time for schools to address test anxiety

Research estimates that between 40% and 60% of students experience moderate to severe test anxiety, creating a gap between classroom performance and high-stakes exam results that can skew district data and mask students’ true abilities.
Clinical psychologist Tram Huynh says that districts should move beyond basic relaxation techniques and integrate performance-based self-regulation tools into existing multi-tiered support systems to ensure assessments measure knowledge rather than stress responses.

Remember -- it's always the kids who need to be fixed, not the structure (in this case, the tests) that should be questioned.

This is what happens when governments set up studies and reviews with a predetermined conclusion to deny support to marginalised groups. It's so important to defend trans and non-binary rights. That's why the work of groups like @goodlawproject.org, @transactualuk.bsky.social, et al is so important.

The Representation of the People Bill contains some useful measures, but it must go further – put proportional representation on the statute books, shut loopholes that let dark money in, and modernise media platform oversights to stop misinformation and disinformation.

Why is the Home Sec so intent on copying Reform immigration policy? 🤔

If the Govt is looking for a popular policy that will actually help fix the UK's problems...

Vice-chancellor calls for review into student loans for those without A-levels Adam Tickell, of University of Birmingham, says money is loaned to people who ‘are not really capable of graduating’

www.theguardian.com/education/20...

Among other things, this is a worrying example of how people have started thinking of academic capacity as this really static thing which gets measured at 16 and 18 and then never changes after that.

Within my lifetime we had a really excellent adult education system in this country that acknowledged sometimes people's educational journeys were disrupted or weird. We've mostly run that into the ground the last 20 years and expected people to conform more and more to a rigid, smooth system

More support for survivors.

Too often, victims and survivors are trapped in abusive situations because of debt and financial dependence.

Today I’m committing an additional £9m to help survivors across London access vital services, build skills and get the jobs they need to secure their futures.

Did you?

Neoliberals moan about rise in minimum wage. Govts preach pay restraint to workers. Silence on profiteering, hikes in exec pay/perks, dividends, share buybacks.

The state devoted to welfare of the super rich.

This! Absolutely this! Even later on, at KS3, an *over-emphasis* on correctness & ‘secretarial skills’ can detract from compositional & creative elements, experimentation, authenticity & ‘flow’. Important though the secretarial skills are, they’re just the mechanism for expression of ideas.

It's good news if someone makes a medical recovery or gets the all clear, but this doesnt cancel out what a person may have been through & there still may need to be a period of psychologically coming to terms with everything that's happened & maybe a different sense of the future. This matters too.

This is a life and death story for the UK – so why is it being brushed under the carpet? The news that healthy life expectancy is in decline in Britain exposes a serious truth about the state we’re in, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty

'While our healthy life expectancy has been dropping, in Sweden it has been rising.'

'...austerity politics continues to blight this country, with so many of [the Coalition's] welfare cuts still in place and swathes of our public services close to falling over'

Young refugee spent winter on London streets due to ‘secret’ hotel eviction rule Home Office now must give notice of its discretion to extend 28-day deadline, which it did not do for 19-year-old

Let's just be really clear here, this is far from an isolated case. The Home Office routinely makes vulnerable people homeless, and yesterday's announcement by the Home Secretary on increasing the removal of support from some asylum seekers will make it worse.

Damning verdict on social care as peer says system needs a 'reckoning' Baroness Louise Casey has been tasked with leading an independent probe into social care, to pave the way for the 'National Care Service' that Labour promised in its manifesto

Damning verdict on England social care as peer says system needs a 'reckoning'.

22 major reviews over 3 decades. Govts do nothing.

No integrated healthcare system. Social care privatised. Corporations profiteering. Public money buys less. Govt handing the NHS to them as well

End privatisation.

Or a slightly more far fetched story, you had just finished when the door flew open and a bunch of kangaroos rushed in doing the conga and unfortunately some of them bumped against the wall so it's actually kangaroo hair not roller fluff...

My brain may have gone off on a bit of a tangent...
