Long past time we had some radical change in education. Ofsted are hugely problematic and we need to be able to put children back at the centre rather than the constant pressure on children and young people. Pretty much every conversation I have with educators IRL is about this.

This is what happens when governments set up studies and reviews with a predetermined conclusion to deny support to marginalised groups. It's so important to defend trans and non-binary rights. Among other things, this is a worrying example of how people have started thinking of academic capacity as this really static thing which gets measured at 16 and 18 and then never changes after that.
Within my lifetime we had a really excellent adult education system in this country that acknowledged sometimes people's educational journeys were disrupted or weird. We've mostly run that into the ground the last 20 years and expected people to conform more and more to a rigid, smooth system

It's good news if someone makes a medical recovery or gets the all clear, but this doesnt cancel out what a person may have been through & there still may need to be a period of psychologically coming to terms with everything that's happened & maybe a different sense of the future. This matters too.

Let's just be really clear here, this is far from an isolated case. The Home Office routinely makes vulnerable people homeless, and yesterday's announcement by the Home Secretary on increasing the removal of support from some asylum seekers will make it worse.
