My art world mentor was an old wasp social register type and I asked him all sorts of questions on what was up with this situation or that person and he would often shrug and quote fitzgerald "the rich are different than you or me." RIP Charlie

What's new here is that this would not have been the public reaction a few months ago. I was frustrated because we need more education or criticality etc but now it's very public news how LLMs and other AI tools are integrated into violence and oppression. But minds w certainty are unable to shift

An artist was praising a famous gallery for getting how special AI is with its emergent qualities etc and the comment section was not having it. This elitist upholding of big tech mythos shows how the art world lags. 1. "AI"is not hard to get. 2. It marks a lack of criticality good artists have

Over and over it's death. Death in the poetics, death as a service, death IRL.

A panel of approximately ten people — predominantly men in dark business casual attire — seated in a row of chairs on a stage, appearing to be participating in a panel discussion or Q&A. Several wear lanyards with name badges. The image is mirrored vertically, creating a reflection effect where the group appears both right-side-up in the lower half and upside-down in the upper half.

I think the visual of the youtube talk is like a Holbein painting and tells it like it is about narrative and sector capture: the mic passing aimlessly, credentials hanging on necks, the shoulder to shoulder barricade of it, heads gleaming like the teeth of a skull, chewing nothing.

They were going to pass rules to phase out gas stoves, until they received 20,000 public comments against the regulations. Except, oops, it turns out the comments were generated by AI.

I don't know how markets/future will play out when agendas are so messy, but this Anthropic drama benefits their marketing strategy + they have 6 months for it to kinda fizzle out. Much of the narrative is hype. I give it a month or 2 to play out, not my trust. Things aren't b&w, hero vs heel IRL

In Anthropic commentary, I see EA tech influence being framed as helpful right now. I'm no Palantir network mapping machine but EA is not moral philosophy, its people. EAs in Bay Area contain & hang w white supremacist, eugenicists etc, easier to see from outside than have self awareness inside

You would not believe the newsletters I am getting these days.Mea culpa I guess for having an interest in AI, philosophy & the arts. Amazing. Of course they are using LLMs to write longer diatribes, but are they reading their own missives before sending it to me? Sus. I'm not unsubscribing though!

I can't speak for everyone but this is being shared in my channels as an example because people are upset at how fake news is manufactured to create greater anger between the left and right in the US. No one I follow posts on sports they are researchers who study politics and current crisis

26.02.2026 01:17 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

So it's not as much about hockey as a topic but that it's stuff like this fake video that ends up gradually pushing people into more and more fake videos on social media. It's about political propaganda and the manipulation of social media for nefarious reasons. Sports are just popular right now

26.02.2026 01:12 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

It's a complicated situation. Not trusting what we see benefits people and governments who profit off of distrust such as the left right division. The US benefits those who take advantage of anger politically. So we have to maintain trust while being critical smart audiences which is very hard to do

Fake Euronews videos used in Milan Olympics disinformation campaign Across social media, a series of doctored Euronews videos spread false claims about Ukrainian athletes and refugees over the course of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics. #TheCube

Here's an example of how sports videos are used for political propaganda. AI can now be used to fake realistic voices and video. www.euronews.com/my-europe/20...

For example, many countries ,Russia in particular, spread fake videos of sports. They start pretty boring but gradually get more extreme. People aren't going to believe extreme ones right away they need to get warmed up. This hockey video functions as that warm up.

26.02.2026 01:08 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

It's very hard to tell these days. We have to double check find the original video and pause before sharing anything to investigate. It's fake but not offensive or close enough is a slippery slope. It makes it easy for others to then dismiss real problematic important news as fake too

26.02.2026 01:00 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Hi Elizabeth. No one video is the problem however eroding what we trust or is real has huge implications for democracy and benefits authoritarians. Manipulating reality even if just a tiny bit starts adding up and gets more extreme. You stop trusting what you see, people stop trusting each other

Hackers Expose Age-Verification Software Powering Surveillance Web Three hacktivists tried to find a workaround to Discord’s age-verification software. Instead, they found its frontend exposed to the open internet.

Discord was going to use age verification that literally pipes your information straight to the fascist US government, until hackers exposed it.

AI ads in SF are like "don't take this the wrong way but..". The public is viewed like a targeted conquest at a bar approached via some pick up artist manual, to belittle and neg until we are seduced into some AI relationship when we could do better. All the marketing is so full of contempt for us
