I work fairly closely with the grant-witness team. Good humans and an impressive array of skill sets.
I always feel like a complete data science amateur during our calls.
I guess "I was a depraved scumbag who was close to an unrepentant sex offender with whom I enjoyed making jokes about women and perhaps worse" is a bit more damaging to myself and my institution (and probably harder to admit to myself).
If Axel is the "Richard" in these documents providing advice about pardon strategy and joking about women having sex with sexual predators, Axel's apology for "an error in judgement" seems like more than a bit of an understatement.
