When you liberate programming from the requirement to be professional and scalable, it becomes a different activity altogether, just as cooking at home is really nothing like cooking in a commercial kitchen. I can report to you: not only is this different activity rewarding in almost exactly the same way that cooking for someone you love is rewarding, thereβs another feeling, too, specific to this realm. I have struggled to find words for this, but/and I think it might be the crux of the whole thing: This messaging app I built for, and with, my family, it wonβt change unless we want it to change. There will be no sudden redesign, no flood of ads, no pivot to chase a userbase inscrutable to us. It might go away at some point, but that will be our decision. What is this feeling? Independence? Security? Sovereignty? Is it simplyββ¦βthe feeling of being home?
Absolutely love this comparison of learning to code and learning to cook. The world could use more home-cooked software: www.robinsloan.com/notes/home-c...
I've just wrapped up a fun project from over the holidays! IttyBitty is the easiest way to create, manage, and merge work from parallel Claude Code agents.
`$ ib watch` from any git repo to see the ittybitty dashboard, launch agents that work in parallel in worktrees adamwulf.me/2026/01/itty...

Terrifying? or amazing? possibly both?
You know it's going well when you can use the tool to improve the tool π Screenshots show the team that the first agent built and them working together, second shows the completed task waiting in a branch. All done while i was working in another claude instance.
i nerd sniped myself and have been building AI agent coordinator π€
β’ manager and worker agent types
β’ agents can send and receive messages from each other (and from you)
β’ can be spawned from command line or inside your claude chat
β’ work until they're /finished/

Just updated UserDefaultsWatcher to also look through ~/Library/Containers and GroupContainers to show _even more_ user defaults. So handy! adamwulf.gumroad.com/l/user-defau...

I've been loving using Activepieces on PikaPods to create custom MCP servers, and I wrote a quick bit about my experience. Highly recommend! adamwulf.me/2025/11/easi...
I spent a few hours last week building User Defaults Watcher - a simple app that, you guessed it, watches the system's user defaults. adamwulf.me/2025/11/watc...

Interesting - i've no idea where that setting is. As an alternative, you can jump into the Muse discord museapp.com/community and DM me there
sure! though I don't think I have too much advice, i had no idea Muse was in the running until they emailed me that it was chosen π

Did you know that even when Muse (and half the internet) are offline, you can still access 100% of your data in Muse. Even edit from multiple devices, and everything will sync when the internet comes back online. Keep your notes where you can always see them: museapp.com
Very cool news. Guess this means itβs a good time to repost the chat Inhad with @adamwulf.bsky.social of @museapp.bsky.social from some months back so that folks can see what Apple sees youtu.be/4JDujYSnrz4

A bar chart showing daily bandwidth of the muse website. early bars are each ~5-6Gb/day, mid bars are 3-4Gb per day, and final few bars are under 1Gb/day
The Muse website can be on the free Netlify plan as long as it stays under 100Gb of bandwidth. Two months ago it was at 166Gb/mo, after a first round of optimization it came down to 102Gb/mo. Another optimization a few days ago i brought it under 1Gb/day, so less than 30Gb/mo (!) π
Fathom has been great for web analytics, but I wanted a bit more control, a bit more privacy, and a bit less cost. Enter Umami adamwulf.me/2025/09/pika...

Just finished migrating my site adamwulf.me from WordPress to hugo on Netlify. I used wordpress.org/plugins/simp... to export from WP to raw html, then asked Claude to turn that export into a hugo site. The bones were working in 5 minutes, took a few hours of tweaking to get exactly how I wanted. π
If Iβm reading it right, this judge has blocked trumps birthright citizenship executive order (for now), which is good. Birthright citizenship for everyone born in the US is still the law of the land.
