I feel sad that the level of discourse in this country by and about professional military personnel has become so degraded (or, probably more likely, so muzzled by threats) that Hegseth's "No stupid rules of engagement" did not immediately arouse a ferocious response.
Set success at 50-60% completion to start, then increase. Prizes can be more screen time or an increased allowance or getting to pick what's for dinner on Fridays or... YMMV, but it's effective, especially if there's some pavlovian delicious breakfast if they wake up early to start.
You might already know this, but reward based incentives are great at all ages. Especially if kids are neurodivergent. "If you get up early enough to eat a real breakfast, I put a star on the chart. If you get 13 stars, you get [x]"
Then the next month try to beat the high score.
