Yeah. my uncle and his carpenter crew used to go 3-4 days a week after work when the weather was good. I grew up playing on the $9/9 holes public course by my house, which was infinitely more fun than any country club I played at.

Golf isn't for country clubs it's for shirtless roofers chainsmoking Merits.

Obviously there are land- and water-use issues but it really sucks that the death of the public course has also pretty much killed the blue collar golfer.
