Anyone who cares about what happened to 70% of National Endowment for the Humanities staff who were terminated last year can comment on this proposed rule so that future civil servants don't lose their appeal protections as well. Info on how the public can comment in the next post. #NEH
$207 million in both 2023 and 2024 but ALSO 2025 due to the Continuing Resolution, and 2026 will most likely be not a huge drop in the end.

Federal workers have high performance ratings b/c they are passionate about and committed to their work, full stop.
Yet while most National Endowment for the Humanities staff had high ratings because of their outstanding work overseeing #humanities grants, they were fired anyway. #NEH
Those of us who are left would love to see this (though at the end of the day we have no power about what to fund).

Someone with such a huge platform as @theatlantic.com could have used said platform to make the case for federal funding for the arts and humanities and how it was a common good for ALL people and delve into what's happened to #NEH, #NEA, and #IMLS, but...nah.

It's been 10 months to the day since the National Endowment for the Humanities laid off the vast majority of its staff.
These drastic, unnecessary, and costly - yes, millions of taxpayer $$! - actions that are destroying the federal government need to "pause" for good. #NEH

Most recently, we appealed the court’s ruling on some of our claims challenging the dismantling of NEH funding programs and reduction of NEH staff. This has been happening in non-policy roles across the government for an entire year now. Civil servants deserve better.
And most of our staff have been terminated, despite no change to the budget of #NEH.
