Another week or two of fuel prices skyrocketing and the Market going in the crapper and we'll declare a great victory in Iran cause we say so.

Fifty years after New Zealand stopped whaling, humpback population showing signs of recovery Breeding is getting more competitive, suggesting the population is growing, a new study shows.

This is a marvelous change not only for the Humpback whale πŸ‹ population but for all of us. We need to keep our gentle giants from going extinct.

Nashville Noticias staffer Estefany RodrΓguez was detained by ICE in South Nashville on Wednesday morning. There was no warrant for her arrest. Her attorneys have filed an emergency petition in federal court seeking a writ of habeas corpus, or an immediate review of whether or not her detention is legal.

RodrΓguez, who was in the car with her husband β€” a U.S. citizen β€” has been following all the legal steps to citizenship. In her job, RodrΓguez has reported several stories that hold ICE accountable, and it’s unclear whether her detention was retaliation. As of Thursday afternoon, she was in Alabama en route to an ICE processing center in Louisiana.

Something I don’t think can be emphasized enough is how fast ICE is shipping the people they detain off to another state. β€œMove fast and break things” but for people in potentially life or death situations. nashvillebanner.com/2026/03/05/j...

The Inherent Conflict Of Interest With DOJ's OPR And David Margolis - emptywheel The first, and most obvious, issue of conflict with OPR is that it places evaluation and resolution of ethical complaints against DOJ attorneys in the hands of the DOJ. The power to determine whether ...

BTW, even if it cleared OPR, the call was only made by a chap by the name of David Margolis at DOJ. He basically never made that call. Ask Ted Stevens' attorneys. Please. His successors were not much better (Hi Scott Schools!) @edroso.bsky.social @nationalsecuritylaw.org @modernista64.bsky.social

Any organization that has signed up to serve as a backdrop to Trump at this point knows they are willing props in authoritarianism. Here, the President is musing about which country he plans to attack next.

Oof, thats actually how it has very long been. DOJ attorneys only get investigated by their own OPR. Which is, of course, absurd, but it is the standard. State bars have usually stood back unless there is a referral by a court. Bondi wants to make sure even that cannot occur. cc: @edroso.bsky.social
