when we've received extraordinary hospitality, and I realized that every time I have (car breakdown pre-phones,etc.) required *me* trusting and receiving help from a stranger. One became a hero for rescuing my friend and me, plus a burning Jeep of college students in a storm.
Today's question asks how you feel when a stranger approaches? I'm cut from the "strangers are just friends we haven't met" cloth, so I welcome the interaction. My Dad and several of my grandparents were the same, never met a stranger.
Have you ever held your hand very close to someone else's without actually touching? What do you notice in the space between? What did you feel? Perhaps a sense of connection and separation, at the same time? If someone asked: So, are you connected or are you separated? And the answer would be "yes"
On Ash Wed, a dear clergy friend and her co-pastor were confronted by an angry White Nationalist just before worship. In the letter to the whole congregation describing new security measures, they closed with the phrase "take heart dear ones, the kin-dom is near" This is my daily Lent mantra. Jennie
What keeps you from taking action? For me (Jennie) it's available energy. If I had all-the-hours and all-the-stamina, I would be about action all-the-time. It's probably good that there are limits, because my actions would not all be grounded in the Spirit of God.
