The gun was removed by agents from his waistband - he was never pointing it at them. He was already disarmed when they fired "defensive shots," killing the man. They then fired several shots at his lifeless body.

So back in 2004 when I visited Rome I went to the Sistine Chapel. I had a visceral negative reaction pretty much as soon as I entered. The problem with "we have no choice but to do this thing Trump and the GOP want because otherwise the government stays shut down" is that there's no limiting principle.

"We have to agree to cancel midterm elections because people need paychecks."

"We have to agree to the camps because people don't have paychecks."

And if that's where we are, the political process is already a lost battle.

That's why Democrats caving is bad.

If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
