We found at least 18 of the drugs on TrumpRx have cheaper generics available ranging from potential savings of over $600 for Tikosyn to just around $2 for Diflucan. Most of the drugs are made by Pfizer.
So about TrumpRx: We crunched the numbers today and about half of the drugs on there have cheaper generics available already. www.statnews.com/2026/02/06/t...

We finally have randomized, controlled clinical trial results from ambient AI scribes. But what do these RCTs actually tell us?
Look at the below chart. Time savings are often low, but doctors give the technology rave reviews, esp in anecdotes that people tend to believe more than data π π§΅

Dear STAT News,
I want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for the vitally important work you do and the irreplaceable voices you bring to the biomedical science and health conversation!
Iβve been at multiple workshops and conferences over the last month (including right now as I write this), and at least one STAT News article has been mentioned at every one of them, usually in the opening keynote.
We need your partnership now more than ever, and Iβm so grateful we have it. ππ»

James Watson, dead at 97, was a scientific legend and a pariah among his peers
James Watson, the co-discoverer of the structure of DNA who died Thursday at 97, was a scientific legend and a pariah among his peers.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Sometimes doctors "fake" CPR. It's called a "slow code" in medical parlance. But "slow code" is really an umbrella term for all types of insincere attempts at CPR. Here's a clip from my new @statnews.com video on the topic

Excited to be moderating a panel at the @statnews.com summit later this week on the upheaval at the NIH this year, and I have the honor of sharing the stage with three people who have helped me make sense of this moment
Going to thread some background reading, featuring our three speakers:
