My comment was about the national-level online discourse.
Platner's support among Maine voters is a different question. No doubt there's lots of unhappiness with the status quo and anti-establishment feeling, along with the things you mention.

There are two groups of people here, with some overlap.
1) Far left who just hate the Democratic Party & Chuck Schumer especially.
2) Mainstream Dems who want to harness the very real anger out there at the economic status quo. Question at hand is why they grab onto Platner & not Osborn & Talarico.
I guess you don't like to have your underlying premises exposed.
Some fighting back is proper & necessary. That does not mean that anything is okay if you call it fighting back.
My objection to the original post was precisely that it assumed any fighting by Israel is wrong & did not address the particular facts of the case.
By the same logic, your post would pursue the aim of normalizing Hezbollah's antisemitism, its bombardment of civilian targets, its use of military force to undermine peace and democracy in Lebanon, and its declared objective of ethnic cleansing in Israel.
I don't understand this. Would you prefer that Israel *not* warn civilians to evacuate when it is firing back at organizations that are shooting at its civilians?
Or do you think it's wrong for Israel to shoot back when shot at? If so, you should make that argument, not complain about warnings.
The Senate is very inclined to give senators bipartisan confirmations. Hand scratches hand.
I'm a connoisseur of left-nimbyism & performative leftism. This is the weirdest take I've ever seen.
Guy who calls himself Marxist-Leninist Communist with hammer & sickle in his profile says planned rail line shouldn't be built because it will require land expropriations.

The Republicans have an economic platform. Make rich people richer. That's why their messaging is not about economics.
Democrats win elections by talking about economic issues that matter to working people. Of all races. With a clear message of change that contrasts with Republican policies.
Looks like they will pour cement for the structural support under the new mezzanine on the elevator side of the Red Line tracks. When I was in the station Monday, the rebar was in place.
I am certain that the Kurds are fully committed to the "US gives us weapons" phase of the operation.
Who voted yes & who voted no?
The very early results had me thinking Crockett was going to win. After my feeling before the polls closed was Talarico winning, maybe by a lot.
It gets worse.

The statewide total of Platner ahead by 7 isn't between the two at all. Platner is doing better state-wide than he is doing in either district, which is impossible.
The numbers would work out if Platner was ahead 54-23 in the 2nd, and the 1st had a lot more voters than the 2nd.
Ghost bike mounted on the base of a metal pole for a mast arm with a "traffic signal ahead" warning sign, next to a six-lane divided high-speed road, where nobody, but nobody, rides in the road, let alone uphill in the middle lane, on a Wednesday in November at 6:30 pm.
Statement from impaired driver who hit & killed a person on a bicycle: The bicyclist was riding uphill in the road.
Statements from 2 witnesses: The bicyclist was crossing the road.
Police conclusion: The bicyclist, riding in the road, was at fault for not riding as far to the right as possible.
There has to be a typo here. Since there are only two CDs, the state-wide result has to be in the middle between the two CDs.
We could have started by not shutting down Voice of America.
Defended Iranian dissidents as we did for Soviet dissidents during the Cold War.
Squuezed Iran's covert financing of proxies (we did under Biden & I think this continued in Trump 2).
No he hasn't. He's in a runoff with a Hitler-curious gun nut.
In fact the map suggests that much if not all of the Democratic advantage was in the two congressional districts with hotly contested Democratic primaries.
I totally agree with this about branding vs policy. And the Illinois primary is a great example.
But the branding & gender are separate problems. In the Texas Senate primary, Talarico was to the left of Crockett on issues, yet the media branded Crockett as the progressive.
That's fair. I'm on the trains that go from DC to NJ and NY for the day, not the other way around.
The gun nut also likes to make Hitler jokes. This is a winnable race.
Especially when the D candidate, Katy Padilla Stout, is both progressive and rooted in the district. forward.com/fast-forward...

When I'm on an Acela that stops at Metropark, I see mostly leisure travelers getting on. The trains at peak business travel hours don't stop there.
If you switch to New Carrollton, HoCo & northern AA & MoCo get a longer drive, rest of AA & MoCo about same, PG shorter. (I can't imagine people from northern Baltimore County drive to BWI for the train.)
It's a trade-off against Purple Line access to UMD. You need numbers to decide.
They could drop BWI.
Acela doesn't need to stop at BWI for airport access. If you're coming from DC or Baltimore, Acela offers no real premium over Metroliner.
OTOH, UMD College Park would benefit from an Acela connection to NYC & Philadelphia.
I dunno if MDOT is thinking about this. They should.
Will Acela stop at New Carrollton after the Purple Line opens next year? Might make more sense with connection to UMD. Would take Acela riders from Maryland inner suburbs of DC away from BWI (if you can't walk to Metro, driving to BWI is competitive with driving to Union Station).
Don't forget TX-23
