That being said, it's obvious that antisemitism does exist in corners of the left today so for them, Platner's stuff is less of a turnoff EVEN IF they care about the past in many respects
My personal theory, rather than red-brown alliance stuff, is that 40 year old liberal intellectuals such as ourselves are not really able to grapple with the fact that many people are so unlike us that they don't really care about the past at all, it doesn't have much significance one way or t'other
Nothing will get you yelled at on Bluesky more than trying to comment on a phenomenon that is bad because people think you're endorsing the phenomenon or championing it. I would not vote for Platner in the primary, I'm deeply uneasy about his whole thing, I'm not going to donate or nothin'
They're different issues, in that Biden was very much Too Old and Platner's questionable comments and past are a big deal. I'm not trying to say that because only Bluesky is talking about it, it doesn't matter. But it is worth reflecting on the phenomenon (unless it only appears that way to me)
