Rod I have so many slides for that in my workshop.

We just keep forgetting things. Jangling keys is real.

Anyone with a pet should be able to recognize that a chatbot doesn't have a mind.

Like, my dog for sure has independent intentionality, thoughts and feelings.

So many feelings.

Wild. For me it was like a food that had lost its flavor or something. My brain just rejected it. But I could read all the non-fiction.

No one is reading non-fiction is funny to me because one very specific way the pandemic broke my brain was I couldn't read fiction for a couple years.

Then one weekend I picked up a novel and read the whole thing. I think it was Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.

Glad to hear that!

Yes, I don't think the Guardian piece touched on that at all, except insofar as everything is a podcast now.

My pandemic lockdown nostalgia is for Quarantine Book Club. Sort of sad that we recorded none of it, but it was the right thing to do. Some experiences should just be experiences without becoming content.

Publishers are abysmal at marketing. It makes me so angry. Writing a book is the hardest thing. And there are ways to build enthusiasm for books, specific books, as well as buying and reading books as activities β€” that no one is doing.

It shouldn't fall on authors.

Keep posting about your book!

Really clinging to that kākāpō breeding news. Apparently the only thing that’s not stupid and evil happening in the world.

This is awesome. As an organizer in Chicago, I have met and talked to way too many people who push the lie that pedestrian and bike safety is bad - for business and for residents. We need better media to help push against the lies. And Urban Truth seems like just the thing we need.

Giant stack of pink boxes. Waiting to be picked up.

Here’s a fun story. Erika and I are on our way out to grab lunch when there’s a knock on the door. I go to answer and there's the mailman and he's holding a copy of my book. Which is odd. Why is the mailman holding a copy of my book? He hands it to me. I open it up and it’s signed. "To Jared."

The Pro-Human AI Declaration The Pro-Human AI Declaration

Hey all, sorry to say this, as I think I have well-intentioned friends who signed, but this "declaration" means nothing. Because Steve Bannon signed it, and he wants my family dead. So if you can sign along side him? At best, you got played. He's the "humanity in control". humanstatement.org

Fifty years after New Zealand stopped whaling, humpback population showing signs of recovery Breeding is getting more competitive, suggesting the population is growing, a new study shows.

This is a marvelous change not only for the Humpback whale πŸ‹ population but for all of us. We need to keep our gentle giants from going extinct.

It’s tiring that we are increasingly stuck organizing our intellectual lives around arguing for the value of having an intellectual life
