This is a big point. Nobody cares -- you're free!

I think the point of attacking Iran is just to kill people. They could only do it in small numbers in the US but over there they can kill hundreds of people at a time.

And these assholes get off on that. There's nothing more to it.

No you don't get to blame AI for one of the first massacres of the war. Especially since they hit the school twice. If they were letting Claude run things on Day One then they literally had no plan going into this.

Not to be unpatriotic or anything but I have known a good number of Iranians and they have been cultured, intelligent, curious, funny.

Also the most beautiful women in the world.

Social media used to be a better alternative for news from the parts of the world where NYT or WaPo will report only what suits US Natsec interests. But now, Bsky is all pearl-clutching; FB is full of boomers reposting AI slop; & the blue-check fash rule the waves on Twitter.

Yeah he's such a bold independent rebel.

This is why I canceled the Washington Post after 30+ years.

love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

So that's settled. The first thing Trump did to make his point with Iran was to massacre a hundred-plus elementary school girls.

When Lindsey says he's going to "blow the hell out of" some people. I am not sure what he means.

Chris Murphy: "I think it's likely the United States that carried out this attack on this school. I think it's unforgivable under any circumstances, but the fact this was one of our first targeting decisions speaks to the incompetence of our leadership at the Dept of Defense."

Wouldn't it be weird if dogs in different countries behaved differently? Like people do?

The concept of "consciousness without an object" makes sense of it all. A rock cannot have consciousness with an object because it has no senses or motor ability and no nervous system. So it is only conscious of everything, undifferentiated.

I ask them what they're trying to say, and they tell me, and then I say, "OK, so write down what you just said."

Yeah, it's an inability to predict anything beyond first-order effects. I think it might be a genuine psychological phenomenon we need to understand, like aphantasia or internal monologue variation.

We are incomplete in our understanding of the variety of human cognition.

It's wild how there are at least 20-30 people in the Trump administration who are each,, somehow, the most contemptible person you've ever seen in your life. Just an M.C. Escher staircase of loathsomeness.

The lack of media coverage about the bombing of the girls elementary schools is shocking.

I'd say that killing innocent people, bombing hospitals and schools, and leveling cities disqualify them for "finest."

Can you imagine your own neighborhood with random bombs blowing up falling unexpectedly, bloody body parts in the streets, houses leveled, families wiped out? Your children dead, your home rubble.

You are doing this to somebody right now. Why?

Reuters Exclusive

"U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls' school."

"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the Middle East."

If the media did what they are responsible to do, everyone in the US would know this fact.

As it is, we're on the brink of giving away our great democracy because people don't know better.

Excellent point. The US is now killing people right alongside Israel, learning from them how to bomb hospitals and schools.

It's like a sickness on this site, as if people were deliberately trying to emasculate the Democratic Party.
