Stop negotiating. Start engineering.
Constraints aren't the enemy of creativity.
They're the only reason creativity exists.
Save this.
Let me tell why this works...
Creativity = constraint + pressure + surprise.
Generic prompts remove all three.
This structure injects all three simultaneously.
Here.. you are not asking the LLM to be creative, you're building a box so specific that the only way out is through something original.
Full structure in action:
"Write a cold email for a B2B SaaS tool [FORM: in under 90 words, structured like a haiku expanded into prose] [LENS: from the perspective of someone who hates email] [TENSION: that feels urgent but completely unbothered] [ANTI-PATTERN: no features, no social proof
ANTI-PATTERN example:
❌ "Write a creative intro for my newsletter"
✅ "Write a creative intro for my newsletter. Do NOT start with a question, a statistic, a personal story, or the word 'I'. No motivational energy. No life lessons."
Eliminating defaults forces invention.
TENSION example:
❌ "Write a product description"
✅ "Write a product description that makes the reader feel both urgency to buy AND slight guilt about wanting it"
Two opposing emotional forces = inherent drama.
Inherent drama = copy that moves people.
LENS example:
❌ "Write a LinkedIn post about productivity"
✅ "Write a LinkedIn post about productivity from the perspective of someone who thinks hustle culture destroyed their marriage and rebuilt their life after slowing down"
Specific POV = specific voice = content nobody else is writing.
FORM example:
❌ "Write me a tagline for my SaaS product"
✅ "Write a tagline under 6 words that sounds like it belongs in a 1970s noir film, not a tech product page"
The unusual constraint forces the model off its default path.
That's where original work lives.
The 4-part Creative Unlock Structure:
→ FORM: Specify the exact format with one unusual constraint
→ LENS: Give it a specific perspective or voice it wouldn't default to
→ TENSION: Define two opposing forces it must resolve
→ ANTI-PATTERN: Tell it explicitly what it must NOT do
First, understand WHY "be creative" fails.
AI creativity is probabilistic. It defaults to the most statistically common answer.
"Be creative" has no constraints.
No constraints = no creative pressure.
No pressure = average output.
The fix isn't less structure. It's MORE of the right kind.
Telling AI to "be creative" is lazy.
And you always get lazy output back.

10/ Context Engineering
This is the new skill that's replacing "prompt engineering."
Prompt engineering is about what you ask. Context engineering is about everything the model sees what's included, what's excluded, in what order, and in what format.
9/ System Prompt
The system prompt is the invisible instruction layer that sits above every conversation.
You don't see it. The model does.
It's where you define the persona, the rules, the tone, the constraints, and the task.
It's the difference between a generic chatbot and a specialized tool.
8/ Agents
An AI agent isn't just a chatbot.
It's a model that can take actions search the web, write and run code, send emails, call APIs in a loop until a task is completed.
The model decides what to do next based on what just happened.
The scary part? The more confidently it's stated, the more likely people believe it.
The fix isn't just "use a smarter model."
It's: give the model a source to work from. Use RAG. Ask it to cite. Tell it "if you don't know, say so."
7/ Hallucination
Hallucination is when an AI confidently states something completely false.
It's not lying. It doesn't know it's wrong. It's pattern-completing based on training data and sometimes the pattern leads somewhere that sounds right but isn't.
But here's what everyone gets wrong:
Fine-tuning is NOT the first step. It's the last resort.
Before you fine-tune, try better prompts. Try RAG. Try few-shot examples.
Fine-tuning is expensive, slow, and locks you into a model version. Only do it when everything else fails.
6/ Fine-tuning
Fine-tuning is when you take a pre-trained model and train it further on your own data.
Think of it like hiring a general doctor and then sending them to a 6-month surgical residency.
Same base intelligence. Now specialized for your specific use case.
Here's the part people miss:
RAG doesn't make the model smarter. It makes the model informed.
Bad retrieval = bad answers. Even a brilliant model will hallucinate if you feed it the wrong context.
