This Mitsubishi Minicab is enjoying its retirement, fading into the temple grounds where it once worked. The Minivan line has been retired for about as long too, having been debated as Suzuki Carry since 2017. Maybe the minicab will return once someone starts this old truck.

This never made it to production, so we can't know, but the N-Van handles really nice, it's been the best selling vehicle in Japan for 4 years. The small wheels and tight base don't let you straddle canyons, but they're super light so they just bounce along obliviously, for better or worse.

To all the folks saying that this thing can't drive vertically up a cliff while sleeping 3 dozen people, y'all just mad you didn't make the front page of Trip Magazine like I did 😎

I can confirm that on the roads of Southern Ontario my Kei van is surrounded by a stupidity field similar to driving a U-HAUL, you can go 20 over the limit and people will still red line it to pass you. On the up side you can fit two side by side in a single Highway lane! Lots of wiggle room.

I thought of an urban planner personally. The camping scene in Japan is not as rough as other parts of the world, but also these things are usually available in many trim levels in production. My van, the vamos, has a spec for people who own dogs 🤷

Some folks do get their N vans raised and put knobby tires on them, but this does have more of a day tripper in mid I think. The camping experience in Japan tends not to be so rough and tumble.

The camping game in Japan is a little less rugged. I could see this as a perfect base camp for day tripping and a backwoods camping tour. The 10% of people who are fast roping into their active eruption volcano lava paddle trip already have their kit set anyways.
