Duolingo is a pretty bad platform for language learning as it doesn't teach the underlying grammar most languages rely on for communication.
Medical transition for trans kids is now banned for new referrals on the NHS. Trans kids in the UK can still go private or DIY (for now).
This means the new clinics that replaced GIDS are close to useless at best, conversion therapy at worst. 1/5
I think I broke Bluesky yesterday with this thread. Had trouble getting to the end of thread at times.
Think that speaks to a large feeling of powerlessness the American system is designed to engender.
Recently learnt that a large voting block of self-exiled anti-Communist Venezuelans in Florida have an absurd level of away on how that state votes

I kinda like it fading out on the hopeful note about their next steps.
Overall... Eeeeeh... I think I prefer the original cut. There's just something clunky about this version. Could be nostalgia talking ofc.
"Do you know what he is?"
"Yes, he's the man who saved our lives."
Perfect line there!
And they cut out the Kowalsky Goa'uld-ing as per the original wishes. Probably to hope to add to the mystery in the next episode.
The repeated "hold your fire" is quite funny.
Oh those new glider shots are fantastic! I think they're new at least!
Swapping out the glider for a cargo ship was a good call imo.
I do love the expansion on Teal'c reasoning here. It does give us a bit more characterisation to go on.
"A lot can happen in an hour."
Anything could happen in the next half hour!
Christopher Judge really does sell this listless feeling after betraying everything he knows.
Aaaah the pivotal moment of Teal'c turning again false gods.
Bloody fantastic scene.
The selection process is quite harrowing in both versions, and this version does seem to be extended.
A little bit of the Hammond we'd see later on there. Glad the character had time to grow.
Is this an alternate take of the reunion between Daniel & Skaara? I seem to remember this scene playing differently.
I wonder if this set is reused from another production. Something makes me think it wasn't built recently, and definitely not for Stargate.
No-one questioned why these "gods" were dressed quite differently from other gods.
Okay, all of a sudden Chu'lak is a lot more Greek looking with all the Doric columns.
The Jaffa priests are an aspect of the society I wish was more explored in the show.
Never noticed the subtle head shake from Teal'c before. Really small detail that I'm not sure is in the original cut.
Glad they cut out the full frontal nudity for Sha're. It always felt a bit ick.
"You saw all seven symbols?"
Yup, they've gone to another galaxy!
"What you could bring back is exactly what I'm afraid of."
Oh Season 1 Hammond, you have no idea what you're in for.
"It might've been his brother Ray."
If you know anything about Ancient Egyptian language, and particularly pronunciation, this is actually a quite meta-joke as "Ra" is quite often prounced as "Ray" by some academics.
That establishing shot looks especially crunchy. Likely a newer HD shot, crunched down for the DVD release.
