Reading this brought it all back with Gills treatment. I don’t know how you managed to deal with the ascites discomfort for so long. Gills was drained on the 3rd day in hospital. She never got to the chemo stage. A pulmonary embolism carried her off before the cancer could as the cancer caused clots

Good to hear the treatment is having a positive effect πŸ‘

Gill thought she had gluten intolerance & then IBS and then the bloating started. She only had a month from diagnosis after a blood test to gone. I think she must have been a long way into stage 4 at diagnosis. I’m glad you have caught it earlier and you have treatment under way and wish you well ❀️

I lost Gill to a particularly aggressive form of ovarian cancer and the symptoms were mistaken for dietary issues combined with more exercise than normal (she was doing a lot of walks and yoga so overlooked the weight loss). For any of my female followers looking in do note the symptoms below πŸ‘‡

The Butterbur are flowering along the canal now. Like the early Celandine and Primrose flowers they are a great source of nectar for bees when flowers are still scarce early in Spring. They flower before the huge leaves appear with their felt like upper surface.

Good that it has some protection and conservation work has been carried out. Definitely one I will visit when I’m in the area.

I’m amazed the Kurds will have anything to do with western powers any more after being abandoned by the coalition and US in particular in Iraq.

Yes all academic book and journal prices are terrible because of the limited audience, but there are some you just have to have. Good that you and the label get a mention though.

It needs to be more affordable to get to a wider audience, terrible price at the moment without a discount

Ahh, that’s a shame they cut it πŸ˜• Yes, would be interested in a read πŸ‘

That’s great. It’s quite an approachable read for an academic book and full of interesting views and nuggets of info. Crucially, it’s bang up to date with mentions of lots of current artists and labels involved in the scene. Hope you enjoy it and get a good discount πŸ‘

Looking forward to a read of this book which explores the 21st century hauntology music scene and particularly music inspired by landscape and cultural heritage. Expensive but thanks to @moonbuilding.bsky.social newsletter review you get a Β£32 discount. PDF version also expensive.

#MythologyMonday
March is National Reading Month in the U.S. - as good a reason as any to share my suggestions for which of the many versions of The Mabinogion you should read!
Brief, it depends what you're looking for.

The medieval and post medieval stone roof tile quarries on the west side of Corndon Hill, Powys. The lidar data shows the extent of working quite nicely and the earthworks of the quarry pits are well preserved and accessible on footpaths.

White Grit lead mine pumping engine house. Originally it housed a 1783 Boulton & Watt engine. This was upgraded with a larger beam engine in the 1840s.

Had to stop and look around the White Grit β€˜tin tabernacle’ corrugated iron church which would have served the lead mining community here.

Managed to find the unusual X-shaped medieval artificial rabbit warren (often called pillow mounds because of shape) on Middleton Hill near Corndon. Easily missed and best found with lidar.
