More and more I think the russian interference line re Brexit is actually cover for American and Israeli interference.

A united Europe is a competitor for the US. A UK inside a united Europe is not able to support Israel as readily as an independent one could.

Iran Crisis: They Wanted Sovereignty. Just Not Like This If anyone has ruined the special relationship, it's not Starmer- it's Trump

No legal basis. No clear objective. No exit. And much of Britain’s political class spent the week calling Starmer a coward for noticing.

Latest substack from me.

This will result in some excruciatingly painful months for European countries reliant on middle eastern gas and oil.

In the medium term though it should result in a faster energy transition.

Ukraine proved we can't rely on Russian gas. Iran has proven we can't rely on middle eastern gas.

The mild panic in his eyes tell you everything you need to know.

"how do I tell this idiot to stop pointing a gun at me".

Great news. Good luck to them.

He is an antique pig.

No wonder two female reform councillors quit this week because of chauvinistic behaviour from fellow Reformers.

It is a party (company?) created in his own image.

I just hope the editorial line becomes more pro Europe, if not pro EU and far less pro Trump. Feels like it can do that and still stay in line with conservative opinion. Tory voters are far more pro Europe and anti Trump than the current leader believes.

This is bad.

Reality is beginning to shine through. Oil price surge will put additional pressure on companies and jobs.

All America needs now is the AI bubble to finally burst and it will make the 2008 crash and the Eurozone crisis look like minor fiscal events.

Honestly, if Trump is earnest in his belief that Putin is his friend, not his master, I don't think we actually want Trump to figure out the truth.

Can you imagine the stupidity of this regime in that situation? They would arrogantly start something they cannot stop and 10s of millions will die.

1/ Update on the situation in the Middle East for people in Swansea.

Today marks the end of a long week, with conflict now impacting countries far beyond Iran.

Hmm. Maybe a better question is, is he anti Trump?

I vaguely recall Trump having a pop at Politico in the recent past.

Is this good news? Or bad news.

I have read conflicting reports of him being pro EU and anti EU.

Hopefully at the very least it is bad news for the Daily Mail.

They already have a homeland. The Iraqis, Syrians, Turks and Iranians stop it it from ever becoming an independent country.

America uses them every time they need some insurgents and then abandon them to Turkish bombs the moment they have surpassed their usefulness.

I remember when β€˜Brexit Means Brexit’ became a way for silly people to insist that they supported something they could neither justify nor explain. Obviously the context is very different, but something similar is already happening with the β€˜war’ in Iran. And it’s mostly the same people doing it.

He also donates money to Farage, as does his mother.

If Starmer received money from this kind of character he would be hounded out of office by the press.

Nigel though, barely even a question about him.

Defence secretary accuses Tory and Reform MPs of β€˜unpatriotic’ behaviour John Healey lambasts opposition politicians for seeking to turn Donald Trump and the US against Keir Starmer

The defence secretary, John Healey, has accused opposition politicians of deliberately undermining the UK’s relationship with Donald Trump, saying it was β€œunpatriotic” for MPs to seek to turn the US against Keir Starmer.

Yeah I agree but that doesn't mean the clever puppet masters are involved in every decision.

That's why they keep doing dumb shit every day.

1. Thread 🧡

Freedom of Movement wasn’t just a policy.
It was a simple freedom: the ability to say yes.

β€’ Yes to a job.
β€’ Yes to love.
β€’ Yes to a new life in another country.

When that freedom disappeared, something subtle but important changed.

Strategically doesn't make sense to bring NATO in, that increases the air coverage for their opponents and makes their operations more difficult.

I think your second, bigger reason is something I had not factored in and is a really good point.

05.03.2026 19:03 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Yes I completely get that and I agree it's 50/50.

I just don't see how that fits into attacking the UK and Cyprus.

Cyprus is tiny economically and the adding the UK just increases the number of bombs taking out their launchers and stockpiles of weapons.

The thing is, many people have been encouraging a fire sale of US bonds.

That doesn't need to happen, countries and investors simply need to stop buying them. It will protect the bonds they currently hold for a while and it will allow them to slowly divest whilst the dollar slowly dies.

It is an addiction they cannot shake.

That is why we have not banned it. The politicians and a large portion of the media are obsessed with constantly refreshing it.

Dopamine, dopamine, dopamine.

Merz says he told Trump behind closed doors that:

(a) any trade deal with the EU is either with Spain on equal terms or not at all, NATO/ defence spending being a matter to address separately;

(b) Trump’s criticism of Starmer is unjustified, the UK plays a strong E3 and defence role.

You are probably right but I still would not be surprised if was the Israelis.

05.03.2026 17:17 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Israel would not get caught.

We are talking about the country that managed to supply Hezbollah with pagers with built in explosive devises and then created the situation within which hezbollah deployed them to their forces.

They have probably the best intelligence service in the world.

They just need to up their production lines by a few factors.

So it will probably take them a decade to replenish this weeks expenditure and it hasn't ended yet.
