I just keep thinking of Masha Gessen being interviewed about the prospect of Trump's first term back in 2016 & quoting the old Russian political joke - 'We thought we had reached rock bottom, and then we heard knocking from below.'

Absolute fucking poetry. Imagine being so terrified of *paying some tax* on your massive wealth that you would voluntarily run *towards* a massive war zone...
Why is the solution never 'let's just treat people like human beings instead of political capital'?
When your editorial guidelines are literally just a minutely more complex version of that Peter Griffin terrorist skin colour chart...
*Mitchell & Webb 'Hans, are we the baddies?'gif*
Yes I thought of that after I posted but still, no mention of Mad Max so it sorta counts?
This makes my heart happy on so many levels.
βWhat do you want to do on your birthday Andrew?β
βI dunno - surprise me.β
Yes I saw this in an interview with a former Royal Protection officer. He said there was a photo in a drawer next to the bed of all the Teddies so the cleaners could make sure they were all in exactly the same spot to prevent temper tantrums from Andrew.
And today in 'things literally nobody fucking asked for'....
My water bill for this year, for one person living alone, is almost six hundred pounds. Water literally falls from the sky for free all the time. Thames Water takes that, fills it with shit, pumps it into rivers I can no longer swim in, then demands I open my wallet. Cunts.
I became Senior VP at a multi-million dollar company at age 26. My salary was $600k. This was in 2018. How did I do it? Blacked out lines CEO (my dad) promoted me to SVP. There are no gimmicks. There are no shortcuts.
This is blackout poetry to me
Not sure there are any, but if there was one that's closest, Gears of War 2. Despite getting it some time after all my gaming group, I was still one of the first of us to get the Party like its 1999 achievement (helped by the fact they adjusted it to include Horde matches tbf)
Exactly 8 or at least 8? Because I rewatch stuff I like a LOT. That said I happen to KNOW I saw this one 8 times at the cinema (& many more since)
I had this starkly illustrated to me when I tried to teach my wife Marvel Champions. She is a very smart woman (way smarter than I am) but the whole concept was just impenetrable to her.
Can I count this absolute BANGER from 1989?
Age Verification?
Lawnmower Simulator being a joke product featured as part of Rich Pelley's Crap Games Corner column in YS (IYKYK)
On the subject of Robocop, I feel like the Joel Kinneman reboot gets a lot of undeserved stick. Is it as good as the original? No, but neither were the two sequels. Kinneman especially for me is an actor whose performance depends on his director. He is AMAZING in For all Mankind, for example.
Often massively misinterpreted but:
If I had to guess, I would say that the likes of Bezos, Zuckerberg etc are all rather 'new money' - unfathomably wealthy but with no familial historic wealth or power as a foundation, whereas the NFL is run by a dynasty & deeply entwined in American culture & history in ways that make it sturdier?
And now neither can I...
Quite a few tbh, but one that will never ever fail to stop me in my tracks every time:
Robbie is genuinely one of the best, most talented actors of her generation and this may be the best time I ever had in a cinema.
I don't think I have ever heard Kermode as genuinely angry as this. Sure, his rants on 'bad movies' are legendary, but it's generally delivered with an air of detached boredom and/or mild incredulity. This...you could FEEL the rage radiating from him.
As a Greg born in the 80s, I feel your pain...
Tag yourself.
I am T: Keep Clear of Me
There can only be one answer. Objectively terrible, clichΓ©d, silly, poorly plotted & with literal caricature villains. But I absolutely, completely & unironcally adore it, always have & always will.
Exactly how the underhive *should* look! Amazing work
I'm old enough to remember when Angela Rayner had to resign her post & sit on the Naughty Step for 2 months because of a completely understandable mistake with her Stamp Duty that literal experts in the field could have and indeed *have* made, which she had immediately owned up to...
