Climate Deniers of the 119th Congress and the Second Trump Administration A new CAP analysis finds that the federal government is rife with officials who deny climate change in leadership positions within the executive branch, presidential Cabinet, and Congress.

Hey everybody, let's ignore that dumb op-ed by Matt Yglesias and instead focus on something great that was released today: the annual CLIMATE DENIERS report!

An infographic titled "Why Energy Diversification Matters as Extreme Cold Intensifies" by CAP.

The graphic features a vertical timeline against a background of snow-covered houses and evergreen trees during a winter storm.

The timeline includes three main points:

February 2021: Notes that Winter Storm Uri left millions in Texas without power, causing 246 deaths and up to $130 billion in damages after natural gas wellheads froze.

After the 2021 storm: Texas expanded clean energy capacity by adding 23,114 MW of solar, 8,343 MW of wind, and thousands of MW of battery storage, which helped prevent outages during a January 2025 cold snap.

Strengthen the grid: Asserts that extreme cold continues to threaten infrastructure and that a diverse array of clean energy sources will improve electric grid reliability and help consumers save money.

We're about to see a major winter storm test power grids across the country—it doesn't have to be this way. Investing in a diverse array of clean energy sources can save lives and Americans’ wallets: https://ampr.gs/4bh4ttE

Trump standing in the gardens of the White House looking like a gravedigger.

The full photo shows the president is actually standing on a four square-foot pad of astroturf while he holds a shovel full of dirt in this act of "not virtue signaling", "not ineffective", definitely not a "scam", and totally "rooted" stewardship of nature. His connection to the Earth seems profound.

The White House used this photo to argue that "Unlike the previous administration, which wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on virtue signaling and ineffective grifts, the Trump Administration’s policies are rooted in the belief that Americans are the best stewards of our vast natural resources — no “Green New Scam” required."

Check out this photo the WH used to show off their connection to Earth Day on Tuesday, but look what they cropped out... the president is standing on a square of astroturf to make sure he doesn't actually have any contact with the Earth itself! 😂

Surprise, surprise Trump included a carveout for his oil billionaire friends and donors. President Trump doesn't care about making the U.S. energy independent—he’s busy creating loopholes for oil exports while shutting down home grown wind and solar projects

Oil & gas companies want a special loophole to dodge a 15% minimum corporate tax.

Their corporate-friendly allies in Congress are trying to give it to them.

If it passes, dirty energy companies will get out of paying taxes while Congress cuts health care for the poor.

Early impacts of February’s U.S. Department of the Interior and Forest Service staff firings may be most visible at America’s national parks.

The U.S. terminated its 30×30 conservation plan but this also presents an opportunity (commentary) In his first week in office back in 2021, U.S. President Joe Biden signed a historic commitment to conserve 30% of America’s lands and waters by 2030. Two years later, the world agreed to a similar…

"The loss of 30×30 should be seen not as a rejection of conservation values, but as a call to reimagine a conservation strategy that works for more people in more places."
