U.S. EPA sued over illegal repeal of climate protections
Health, environmental groups challenge the Trump EPA’s harmful, unscientific, and illegal repeal of the endangerment finding and elimination of clean vehicle standards.
CATF joined a broad coalition of health and environmental groups in suing the U.S. EPA today over its illegal repeal of climate protections – holding the agency accountable to protect public health and welfare from air pollutants that endanger them.

Eliminating the endangerment finding disregards the consequences of pollution – despite the mountain of scientific evidence that greenhouse gas emissions harm public health and the environment.

Greenhouse gases threaten human health. Yesterday's dangerous denial of scientific findings by the Trump administration-led EPA "will exacerbate the health threats we are already seeing from climate change," APHA says. Read more: bit.ly/epaendanger

EPA is siding with polluters by illegally delaying methane rules for oil and gas.
EPA’s own data shows that a 1-year delay results in the emissions of 3.8M tons of methane and 36K tons of toxic air pollution – at the expense of public health and the climate.

... But the law and science cannot be politicized – EPA has the statutory duty to regulate industries that significantly contribute to air pollution, and the standards currently in place are achievable. There is only one thing EPA can do to comply with the law – withdraw the proposed repeal.”

Today's proposal from the U.S. EPA to repeal the greenhouse gas endangerment finding is a drastic step in its attack on clean air regulations – putting the health of millions of Americans at risk.

it would be great if, on the day the EPA decides to rescind a massive decision allowing it to regulate greenhouse gasses, it could make sure the website is updated so i dont get a 404 PAGE NOT FOUND when attempting to access info about said rollback

KAGAN, J., dissenting
"Truly, this is 'turtles all the way down." Rapanos v. United States, 547 U. S. 715, 754 (2006) (plurality opinion). The majority rejects Congress's design of a whole class of agencies (except, as Wilcox somehow has it, the Federal Reserve) by layering nothing on nothing.

Excerpt of DC Circuit opinion saying “In the early 1990s, many phones had cords, the Chicago Bulls were NBA champions,
and vertically integrated monopolies controlled power generation, transmission, and distribution in a system of localized supremacy that wasn't conducive to competition or grid efficiency.
But times changed. Smart phones largely replaced land lines. The Bulls' dominance declined.”

Shortchanging the Environment While Making NEPA More Chaotic - Legal Planet
Trump's agencies are each issuing their own rules for doing environmental reviews, with no clear benefit over the previous unified approach.
Trump has replaced oherent, all-of-government rules for environmental impact statements with a welter of agency-specific rules and guidance. The resulting chaos is to no one's benefit. You won't be surprised that the new rules limit public participation.
