A friend had a random cat named after me show up to their place in Mewgenics.
Neat ๐ฎ
equipment and swapping abilities, etc. I don't think it HAS to be conquerable on the first attempt. Possible? For sure! But if EVERY boss is a casual experience without caring about resistances, etc. then I'd lose motivation to play with the equipment, and I fear everything would feel very bland
(1/2) I think it depends on the kind of game it is when it comes to this approach. Is there a very limited amount of equipment, and is every player arriving at said boss with the exact same spells/abilities? If it's a linear experience, sure! But if the game's built around constantly changing
I should mention that what I described is what I'd call "TOO difficult," and not just "difficult." I hate word limits!
"Difficult" to me would probably imply you have NO CHOICE but to grind, and it is mandatory to have absolutely all of the best gear with no room for error. Or have some incredibly specific strategy that NEEDS to be followed, like something best kept for a post-game optional boss

Yeah, those situations are a l'il different. I'm referring to if you get access to all of these ailments, etc. but the best thing to do is just attack.
I love having to buff myself and debuff enemies, making using my my status ailments, and shifting around my equipment/accessories!
Honestly I LOVE having โjust enoughโ told to me by a game. I donโt want all of the answers, or to go in-depth into the how and why of everyone and everything.
Itโs why I love FromSoft games so much.
Dang that scene in Pilchard between Maribel and the Hero really made me emotional. Definitely tugged on a heartstring or two!
My ONLY real complaint about Dragon Quest VII is how absent the characters feel during most scenes. Everyone talks at them, and they rarely converse
I can't say I'm the biggest fan of overly hard games, but if a game is TOO easy (with no way to change it), it's got a FAR HIGHER chance of losing me and having me drop it.
I don't like 75% of my abilities to be relatively useless and basically boil down to menu decoration.

I donโt aim for shock value or to be โdifferent,โ itโs just how my stories turn out and how I genuinely enjoy writing them!

A commission for a new project! Doing both battle sprites and character designs.

My next project is shaping up nicely!
Unlike Scarmonde, it has a MUCH higher focus on its characters and their interactions.
Creating, testing, and editing a dialogue-heavy game definitely has its own set of challenges! But there IS progress happening! ๐
"Extremely solid. Excellent level design and enemy sprites. Huge replay value with the myriad classes. The quality of writing is a big (and largely un-advertised) bonus. This game is very good at engaging the player's curiosity." -Casa Serena
