Last month i visited a National Historical Park with signs advising visitors to report any information they were given (& obv the giver) that told a negative story about the country.

I asked a ranger about the sign…they said, defensively, “for now, I’m still allowed to tell facts.”

After I noted

America’s sons and daughters were just shipped to the Middle East to fight in a war without a plan, nor enough missiles, and told by their commanders that the pedophile, sociopath, convicted felon in the White House was sent by God to start this war resulting in the second coming of Christ.

I’ve been thinking critically about my bibliographies lately & recognizing the power of citations. This has not necessarily CUT my references but it makes me happy to be citing certain folks and dropping others.

Currently it's a 5-column table, with Column 1 the year and Columns 2-4 geographies.

The rows (years) mark milestones in policy issues. Mostly words but also a few images in some of the cells.

I have a table that is ugly & clunky and would be better as a graphic. But I lack visualization skills & PPT is killing me.

I just got minor R&R back for a paper that had major issues and that I spent ALL of the fall revising.

It was honestly the hardest revision I've ever had but also the most fun and intellectually rewarding, and....

That this raid didn't make national news is, in large part, due to the cooperation of local and state partners with ICE and it being a somewhat rural area. Raids like this are happening regularly in red states and are mostly flying under the radar. Thank you @aclu.org for standing up.

This is the second account - the first being in Chicago - of DHS agents mass detaining people and then *sorting them by race*.

Colon cancer numbers are rising in the US, UK, Canada, China, Australia, India, South Korea, the EU, Brazil, South Africa etc., the exception is in women in Nordic states who are more likely to eat a diet high in fiber because of berries. Eat beans, berries and other high fiber foods. Limit booze

ALSO: The context we heard about Van Der Beek's cancer in the last few years was fundraising for his care. And if a famous & presumably wealthy (enough) person cannot afford cancer treatment consider what that means for middle- or low-income folks. Healthcare in this country is broken #HealthPolicy

I don't have a particular link to this actor or the show, but we are the exact same age and 48 is way too young to die from #cancer. I lost a college friend to similar cancer two years ago. This is an epidemic we aren't talking about enough. 1/2

The thing about this particular app is that it does feel like we are a bit of a community when you see the flurry of activity in the evenings & envision everyone else just laying in bed/couch doomscrolling together alone
