me, answering press inquiry:
"We donβt claim to have discovered a new emotion. ... I have seem comments under previous articles along the lines of 'scientists again discover obvious thing'."
Headline writer of the Daily Mail:
"Psychologists reveal a brand-new emotion"

If you care about Palestine and are a social psychologist, and especially if you are or were a member of EASP, please consider signing this open letter that I wrote together with other EASP members. We will send it to the leaders of the EU

Weβre wasting the remaining carbon budget on war and AI.
Very surprising that a machine that cannot distinguish between reality and fiction gets its users to hallucinate (too). Sidney lives.
Chilling story by nyt @kashhill.bsky.social
is there something wrong with her fingertips?
They used to say war is how Americans learn geography. This civil war as Team Trump lays waste to most federal institutions is how Americans are going to learn what their federal government did.....

Sad to hear. We used the textbook he co-authored for several years. I really liked that book.
@climatehuman.bsky.social text is right throughout except in the last paragraph. Anger is not the only emotional force driving us out of complacency and inaction. This movement also grows with compassion and togetherness.
This is what the rest of our lives will look like:
We will look around and try to guess whether it is safe where we are, or whether we should leave, and where to.
Climate change is here, but it's not static. Our world will keep changing until we stop producing climate gases.
It is totally common! See @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social's book en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Parad...
John, this "being proud of the community" sounds very much like the communal emotion that we have called "kama muta" in recent work. Have you come across more reports of emotional reactions like this?
I wish you a good new year Mo!
Big news from Finnish publication forum. Almost all MDPI and Frontiers journals will be downgraded to level 0 and thus are not considered as properly peer reviewed trustworthy scientific journals.

oh wow interesting, thanks.
great article. But please correct the sentence "Today, all humans around the world carry at least a trace of Neanderthal DNA.". Your own article that you link in that sentence does not support this. Instead, it says that Neanderthal DNA shows traces from two earlier waves coming out of Africa.
did not know that, very nice! At an abstract level, the plot sounds to another kama muta classic, below. The similarity is that an initial communal relation is threatened to be replaced by a market relation, but then bounces back www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL9K...
I use this video in my lectures to evoke and exemplify kama muta!
excellent write-up of our work on being moved to tears, for which we created the kama muta concept: www.theguardian.com/science/2024...
@ruben.the100.ci can you please point me to a source on this development in Germany? Is this written up anywhere? We have the same problem in Norway
