bc I want a reddit alternative
Is anyone building a Reddit alternative with atproto yet?
All I found was this discussion with the devs bsky.app/profile/arat...
ooh solid idea
thanks! and absolutely. there is just simply no way to understand the entire context of a post with keywords.
check this out and give them feedback!
Thanks! The indie tech vibes feed was a big inspiration
Glad that it helped, your feed looks awesome!
also, credit where credit is due, a lot of the algorithm was taken from @idreesinc.com's feed that I saw when scrolling through forks of the feed generator repo. thank you!!
and for my software people, if you're curious about the algorithm or how to implement AI moderation with openai, it is opensource github.com/zachtball/bs...
finished a TON of improvements to my "Film - What's Hot" feed, including AI moderation. if you like movies please check it out π bsky.app/profile/did:...
dead me questioning why I ate that
me after eating a bowl of instant ramen with 4 american cheese slices melted into it
i just migrated my feed from sqlite to postgres and was debugging why it wasn't working for like an hour and then saw this lmao
openai bill of $0.07
I was worried about the cost of moderating my film feed with openai, but after 2,250 requests yesterday my bill is only a whopping $0.07
sounds like the app does it for you, but if youβre using 3rd party client then yeah make sure to do it yourself
I think if you called openai directly on the firehose you would have to sell your kidney to get out of debt, but Iβm combining it with keywords and flagging some keywords to be evaluated by the LLM. Iβm going to post the code when Iβm happy with it!
chatgpt deleting post from feed
when I saw this work in the logs I was pretty hyped
Iβm working on improving this.. currently adding moderation of the top posts via ChatGPT. Thereβs no reliable way to ensure posts are relevant with keywords.
Finished the βFilm - Whatβs Hotβ feed! All my movie lovers please check it out! The algorithm will boost popular recent posts about film to the top.

dog
Once you dive into the open source portion of bsky, like creating feeds and tools, you quickly realize this is absolutely the future of social media.
Is the feed open source? I was thinking about using an LLM in a feed generator as well but Iβm curious how you choose which posts to feed to Claude without getting rate limited.
Have you tried ChatGPT o1-mini? Itβs been super impressive for coding tasks in my experience.
I found it @leolevinsky.bsky.social bsky.app/profile/leol...
lmao
alright writing a βhotβ algorithm was the hardest part, but I think I got it working. going to work on deploying it tomorrow
