Important dictum. When I took those lessons on driving streetcars, I engrained it in my head well how much an industrial machine it was. Same with O ring temperature in January 1986. OSHA innovations were paid for in blood.
A hack for navigating challenging, ambiguous, momentous situations — of which there are many now.

A conversation about the anxiety many product and design leaders are feeling due to AI-driven changes.
Greg Petroff and I hosted the second of our Unfinishe_ Open-Ended livestreams yesterday. Our focus was the anxiety many design and product leaders are feeling from AI-driven changes. We surfaced a couple of important insights — check out the recording:

Our next livestream starts in less than two hours (8 AM PT) — Greg and I will discuss the angst many design and product team leaders are feeling as a result of AI adoption. Join us! youtube.com/live/4FYXZEk...
Many design and product leaders are feeling anxious. AI initiatives are taking a toll on them and their teams.
Join Greg Petroff and me tomorrow (Feb 26) at 8 AM PT for an unscripted conversation about what we're observing and what leading through it might look like.

How do we market a product or service in a way that conveys its real value to customers?
I hadn’t seen it, thanks for sharing.
There’s an article on HBR about this: hbr.org/2026/02/why-...
Using Freeform on iPadOS. Whenever I switch to another app (e.g., Safari) for an instant, Freeform resets and the tools go back to their original settings: pen weights, eraser mode, etc. Incredibly frustrating.
I suspect we can't help it, but...
Please stop anthropomorphizing AI.
We’ll livestream on Thursday, Feb 26 starting at 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST / 17:00 CET.
I hope you can join us!

There’s a general sense of anxiety about deploying AI. Even if you win the battle, you lose the war.
It’s a conversation that should be had in the open, so that’ll be the focus of our second Unfinishe Open-Ended Session.

Are you feeling anxious? I wouldn’t be surprised if you are. AI is upending our work — and our identities, too.
Greg Petroff and I have been discussing what we’re hearing from design and product leaders.
Just finished reading “Blood Meridian.” Feeling changed, much like when I first read “Moby Dick.” It’ll take time for me to process it, but what an incredible work.
Deep respect to all of you making stuff happen. Talk is cheap. Starting + growing valuable things requires courage, creativity, and gumption — plus lots of luck. Hats off, my risk-taking friends. May the wind be at your back!
When faced with hype, consider the sources — and whether they're seeing clearly.
The grass is always greener on the other side. And for many people, "the other side" is the here of the (imaginary) past.
A: No, this isn’t the one. 😩
New macOS Tahoe point release! Is this the one where they fix the inconsistent window corners? (Not holding my breath…)
Apple Podcasts (this is the biggie!): podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
The stuff we’re sharing can help people. But they need to find it first. And they won’t see it if we don’t get more ratings.
So, pretty please: if you’ve enjoyed at least one episode of our little podcast, will you leave us a rating? I’ll drop links in the posts below.
Thanks! 🙏
We’re not getting enough ratings.
Seems to be the nature of today's media ecosystem. (I'm guessing other people are as burned out as I am.) But this sucks, because — as I understand it, anyway — ratings and reviews affect the show’s visibility.
Ok, here’s the deal.
It’s been over a year since Harry and I started “Traction Heroes.” We’ve published 29 episodes, one every other week, without fail. And we know people are listening, because we can see the stats.
But there’s a problem.
ICYMI, I shared notes on what I learned on each of the 52 weeks. Observations on lots of classics there, plus insights on how AI tutored and helped me through the process of reading through the humanities.

Which is to say, the humanities immersion continues. This endeavor preceded the yearlong course and will last the rest of my life — for as long as I’m able.
