for 9 you can usually either find a way to peel off some of the extra zombies, just run past them and wait for their aggro to go away, or stand still until your crosshairs have a dot - focus headshots have a guaranteed stun that lets you shove them to the ground with iframes

one of my clients is a guy about twice my age with japanese dual citizenship, we have a nice time chatting about the good and bad of both the US and Japan, and I just genuinely shook him harder than I've ever seen by mentioning that half of my friends are into UC Gundam

i like action RE but i just didn't like how leon's half was tuned and the encounter variety, grace's part felt much better-executed on a mechanical level

i think she's a very difficult character to balance and she feels better than The Watcher on a balance level, but also needs a dopamine injection and probably should have Transfigure be a power instead of a skill, or at least have ethereal

also sorry i should add to the necrobinder thing and say that it's also clear that her starting deck is like that because her ramp is absolutely unhinged. by the end of act 2 i was getting 9+ mana per turn by turn 3-4 of each fight and had an absurd amount of card draw and 0-cost cards to go with it

Really, really interested in where this goes with early access. It's immediately fun and compelling and doesn't feel power-crept as much as I was dreading, but the easier access to consistent decks and loophole abuse with energy gain being largely card based does give it a distinct flavor.

-necrobinder just does not feel good at all imo and i think her starting deck struggles notably next to everyone else's. souls feel like a must for her because she has so many middling cards and so little access to Summon that she just wants to cycle through her entire deck for half of act 1

+- regent is fun but feels overtuned at A0
+- making energy relics much less of a progression centerpiece has led to surprising knock-on effects due to them adding a Deva Form/Outmaneuver to everybody and decks feel much more consistent by midgame
-this makes A0 feel much easier than sts1 A0

+encounter design is incredibly creative, even given thoughtful sts1's was. act 2's bosses are fucking bonkers in particular
+the new cards for clad and silent mostly feel like very natural iterations of their prior designs while allowing for a lot of silly shenanigans
+all the events are fantastic

day 1 thoughts on sts2: really enjoying it overall! the art passes felt subtle in the initial reveal but the added animations and detail do go a surprisingly long way without feeling like a major shift. kind of tv animation vs movie adaptation vibes
