For all the 'conscious AI' claims from tech CEOs & articles like this, I've seen nothing that distinguishes AI agents from viruses. Viruses do things to sustain, spread & evolve themselves without thought. And humans have historically misattributed agency to viruses that was never actually there.
If it is a "National Cycle Network" then why isn't its maintenance paid for by the Government?
Sadly Sustrans has never resolved that issue.

We got an email complaining about our work from 33 angry subtitling academics when we proved that they were wrong.
We sent back an email pointing out that the work they had referenced mostly supported our results.
Eventually one of the signatories showed why we were right and why they were wrong.
Many comments/responses predictably take a vindictive “well you’re not getting a congestion charge out of me. I’ll just take public transport! Ha! That’ll teach you!” approach.
Same often happens with parking cost increases. “It’ll put people off driving!”.
They seem oblivious that’s the point.

BTW, you don't need AI/ML to generate fake news stories. British newspapers have been fabricating stories for over 100 years.
Don't believe what you read, especially in UK news outlets.
