Senate committee approves bill to expand involuntary mental health treatment The governor said the current system "confuses compassion with neglect." Opponents say the changes violate the rights of people with disabilities.

DRNM opposes New Mexico Senate Bill 3, which seeks to expand involuntary civil committment. Staff attorney Jessica Allsup testified against it yesterday to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Read more here:

The New Mexico Health Care Authority is seeking public input on the development of a Behavioral Health Waiver. This program would provide services to people with mental illness, substance use disorder, and traumatic brain injury. Provide written comments or attend a Zoom session: bit.ly/BHFS2025.
