The critic as the ultimate silver-tongued hater is actually really tiresome. It’s easy to hate something and tear it apart. It’s much harder to love something and to try to offer a clear-eyed assessment of what it’s doing well and where it perhaps also failed

Love this. It's a thought I often have when looking at not-quite-successful visual art. Often it's a matter of not quite knowing what they're working *against* whereas lots of successful form-breakers did, expertly and intimately (Pollock, Picasso, etc.)
... that was done by female secretaries (note taking, transcription, communications) or continues to be done disproportionately by women (appointments, logistics). Chatbot yes-menism turns the user into a minor god: of course dishes are beneath him!
And still no AI to vacuum the gd floor.
I wonder, as I do laundry & clean house post-conference, what AI is doing to our sense of what is "worth" our time. I think it risks setting back the struggles to equalize gendered labor bc it reinscribes certain types of work as needing to be automated/streamlined away - often the type of work...
