Over the course of my lived experience I've been regularly told, shown, and encouraged to believe that my life is less valuable than the lives of others who understand the world differently than I do. My heart has been broken over and over and over again and still I find myself sobbing at yet another life discarded. In my recent experience, it takes more effort than it ever should on our part to remind self described allies that the word ally is a verb as well as a noun.
