Credit where it is due, Eversource seems to be doing well this round.

To me, the evidence for 5-10 years has strongly supported increasing the ratio of schools like Stamford Excellence, especially in high needs zips, but I could find dozens arguing for more $, and not a single one talking about Excellence on the news or opinion page in any major CT publications.

Full disclosure, I work for (South Bronx) Classical Charter Schools, where by time our almost entirely high needs students get to middle school, we are tied for #1 in NYS, above Rye, Scarsdale, Larchmont etc, despite lower funding, so I’m skeptical $ is the answer. www.usnews.com/education/k1...

I would support more funding for the struggling districts in return for NYS level charter share of schools. We have Stamford Excellence getting a National Blue Ribbon and probably 50% more students proficient with with a largely disadvantaged population and $11k per pupil in a district with $21k+.

I have and love solar panels on my house in CT, but they have generated no electricity for 2 weeks because of seasonality and snow. This can’t be backed up with batteries. I think we will be in a better place if the advocates fully cost the need to maintain backup to get through these rare periods.

Kernan is out of control, let him go to Fox. Kelly Evans would be an amazing replacement, if she can be convinced to get up that early.

Not enough that a Fazio like person would see a path to anything but obscurity. I understand how distasteful for true D’s to coalition with the cast off moderate R’s, but a Constitutional unity movement might be the best hope in my opinion.

The Maga party is gradually weaning out Fazio-like members, who probably tell themselves they are keeping the flame. I would like to see the D’s make room for those homeless R’s to stand against the MAGA vision, but this level of compromise seems unlikely.

This is certainly true of Ryan Fazio who I think has done some constructive things and might vote for if there was no MAGA or if he came out and condemned it.

Watching him this morning, it is becoming more obvious he is running interference for the administration, and hurting his colleagues, who must put up with it. Maybe the interview is quid pro quo or there is some other reason, but becomes stranger and stranger. I hope CNBC will let him go to Fox.

We put our CT 4500 kw system in 2014 at $3.75/w, now ~48kw later, we have generated so-so $10k on $16k gross investment. A lot better net, but doesn’t seem great policy to subsidize my income bracket. US costs are still $2.5-3.5w so a bit better. Now at $0.6/w Aussie rates, it would be a home run.

As Camillo suggests, people need to recalibrate expected travel times, so they are not routinely 15 mph above limits/rolling stop signs. I stand by him to expand until major roads are calmer. Aside from safety, people don’t understand what they are missing to walk their neighborhoods without fear.

It’s worth noting that Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings is a super bargain, now also in Stamford mall. On your point about the 7, my son has moved to Sunnyside, an affordable melting pot 15 minutes from GCT. I’m quite jealous actually.

I see they didn’t learn from plastic seats on the M4-M6 experience and the M8 are already cracking and becoming slippery as they wear.

Our US Open/Citifield hack this year is to park in downtown Flushing and grab soup dumplings before events, then walk over.

You can take MNR east-west, but at least in Fairfield County, most people are going to need to go North-South beyond a short walk when they arrive. The branch lines have 10s of miles between them. It is unfortunate that the line was built so close to the coast.

Not that I’m opposed, but the situations seem quite different, a small number of cars driven by much wealthier cohort and plenty of mass transit alternatives in NYC. In CT, drivers on those routes will be distributed up and down the spectrum and lack of transit alternatives for most routes.

Further thoughts, after serious labor and procurement reform, why doesn’t the state look into a CT big dig for Stamford? If they could do it efficiently (not sure), they could use that land for housing, parks & bike lanes to pay back the investment. Connecting downtown to South End would be huge.

I think Robert Caro covered why this won’t work just over 50 years now

The horseshoe of doom: Populists left and right say America is failing. The facts don’t. When voters believe they're living through an economic apocalypse, they're willing to embrace the very policies that would create one.

We were all grateful when word processors and spreadsheets came along, but I wonder if anyone has attempted to measure the accumulated cost to society of Microsoft building the office suite on top of xml.

I guess our point of difference is that I wouldn’t be as confident that a small regional water utility would necessarily come out ahead of a sophisticated larger utility, even with shareholder returns and executive comp, though I would acknowledge greater alignment and would be open to persuasion.

It seems like we are asking for them to make investments. Part of the bargain is they can recover. I think the avg Aquarion customer is paying $~540 vs $810 at NWA. $64m for 236k customers would be about $~271 each, which I assume would spread out over a few years. It still might be less.

Without denying the need for reform, it seems like rolling out a 100 page bill of such consequence on the morning before debate and voting is not a great way to create stable legislation. I realize both sides have gotten in the habit of this kind of thing, but I wish it would stop.

College educated unemployment also has a longer term cycle, which has topped out quite a bit higher than now. awealthofcommonsense.com/2025/11/are-...

Bribery scandal aside, OH rates are 15-17 kWh pre public benefits vs ct 24-28. They get a B+ for its regulation in the recent R Street Study while CT gets a C+.

Eversource Energy - JUST Capital Eversource Energy is a public utility holding company. It primarily delivers energy through its wholly-owned electric and gas regulated utilities serving markets in New England.

It seems like RWA were allowed to raise rates to recover, and Aquarion wasn’t. You guys are tough on Eversource, they rate top utility every year by Just Capital, especially for community and environment. I hope we don’t regret one day driving out a good operator. justcapital.com/companies/ev...
