This is what the βwar on the motoristβ looks like in reality: drunk driver crashes into bus when evading police after narrowly missing pedestrians. Only receives a 16-month driving ban and a Β£253 fine. Pathetic. www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/m...
Last #Cycleway1 video today. Another problem with backstreet "Cycleways" like this which runs through residential streets, is that when local communities use these spaces for celebrations (as it their right), no provisions are made and the users inevitably suffer more than usual.
How long are you going to keep on calling this a "Cycleway"? What's the plan? Do you think this is going to get better on its own without intervention? What was the money spent on? #Cycleway1 @tflondon.bsky.social @willnorman.co.uk @hackneycouncil.bsky.social @sarahwoodberrydown.bsky.social
A true Cycleway should eradicate the chances of drivers being able to intimidate people like this. Wouldn't you agree @willnorman.co.uk @hackneycouncil.bsky.social @sarahwoodberrydown.bsky.social @mayoroflondon.bsky.social? We simply must do better than this. #Cycleway1
Trying to find the smoothest line through the #Cycleway1 BMX track.
And then just a little further up on Pitfield St, we encounter drivers parked on double-yellows and on pavements, forcing oncoming drivers to pass much too close to people on bicycles. #Cycleway1
In 2026, calling this a "Cycleway" feels very odd, at best. We can do better than inaccessible cycle boxes and crumbling roads, can't we @willnorman.co.uk @mayoroflondon.bsky.social @hackneycouncil.bsky.social @sarahwoodberrydown.bsky.social? We need more than just safety in numbers. #Cycleway1
Clarke-Samuel had been driving at more than 60mph in a 30mph zone when he killed Tamang as he crossed the road. He failed to stop at the scene. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If this is happening during driving tests, imagine what licensed drivers are up to!!!!! A learner driver was arrested for drug driving after being stopped during his driving test by police. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

#Cycleway1 woes, Part XVII.
This is awful news for anyone not in one of these hideous machines.

Stationary phone distraction isnβt harmless β the evidence is clear. It impairs hazard detection and reaction time, with effects lasting well beyond the interaction. This is road danger and it can (and does) have fatal consequences. Academic research strongly backs it (see pic). Enforcement matters.
Definitely a much needed silver lining on the #Cycleway1 route!

Thereβs a long list of of βWhy isβ¦ ?β questions relating to #Cycleway1
That whole section which is the City, Hackney and Islington's needs a strategic tidy-up in terms of access and condition. It really could be a great cycle street is we applied the Dutch design approach.
I am not sure how the roads are split given the Hackney/ Islington border is up the middle.
When is @hackneycouncil.bsky.social going to get a grip and fix streets like this (Paul St) and De Beauvoir Rd? It's no fun zigzagging around all the cracks, sunken ironworks, potholes and dips. Will anyone stand up to the council and remind them of their obligations? @willnorman.co.uk? #Cycleway1
Hi @hackneylcc.bsky.social. Any word yet from Hackney Council on fixing the surface on De Beauvoir Rd #Cycleway1?
After years of incorrect signage and unhelpful provisions, seems someone's had a word with contractors who continue to regularly dig up part of #Cycleway1! Good to see.
What's going with bus drivers lately? Anyone calling bus lanes "cycle infrastructure" wants their head seen to. www.standard.co.uk/news/london/...
Even Scrabble knows what we need more of!
The world needs more fair weather cyclists and less bad weather drivers.
Oh the irony. Haringey in a snapshot.
