When I say I am a vision scientist, they tell me about their corrective lenses
(Plz don't I only know retinal diseases and early visual cortex)
Want the freedom of a fancy fellowship, but not the year-long wait or arduous application?
Come join my lab! Work on neuroscience and AI, explore your creativity, be independent or work closely with me, collaborate widely, and have a lot of fun!

It is not a massive issue but I still need to finish my study which use a 3D passive screen haha
Is the trend of 3D passive TVs over? I had trouble finding 3D passive glasses after breaking my last pair #VisionScience
They really do want to destroy all autistic people.
Hello Monica, I would love to be added, I am working on vision science. More particularly on lazy eye. www.win.ox.ac.uk/people/julie...
Still open until the end of the year #UK #Oxfordshire #England

Look, I say things about inclusion here!

Still recruiting! π
Cover of a flyer: University of oxford logo. Text indicating: Lazy eye study - train your vision using virtual reality - looking for adult participants
flyer page 2: text: What is the study about? -Investigating lazy eye, also named amblyopia, which affect visual processing. -Discovering how the brain responds to visual training and improvements in individuals with lazy eye - understanding hwo the brain sees using MRI scans
3rd page of flyer. Text is: Who can participate? Healthy participants with Lazy Eye aged 18-50 years and MRI safe. You must have a reliable internet connection at home and live in or around Oxfordshire. Participation is free and you will be compensated for your time! How to participate? Contact us at: vision.study@ndcn.ox.ac.uk Visit the website: https://amblyopiaproject.wordpress.com/ Or scan this QR code:
Last page of the flyer: text is: Neural mechanisms of visual plasticity in amblyopia Ethics Reference: R80950/RE001 the flyer also displays logos: University of oxford - vision group logo, wellcome centre of integrative neuroscience logo, nuffield department of clinical neurosciences logo
Looking for participants for our study in Oxford! If you are:
- 18 to 50 yo
- Have amblyopia/lazy eye AND/OR wore an eye patch as a kid

Do you have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience or Neuroimaging & are looking for a post-doc?
Do you want to join a friendly lab?
Do you want to live in Norwich (UK) - gorgeous city close to the beach? You can surf, meet seals, do wonderful walks, eat gelato & enjoy gorgeous sunsets!
Looks great! I would consider applying but I never worked on DTI....
Turns out I like to teach about vision science
Thank you so much to whoever put this very comprehensive list of #science Bsky starter packs together. This is just amazing: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
We strongly suggest that academic publishers and other platforms that host research rapidly implement a Share to Bluesky button for their articles. Here's how:

A really important finding is that well over half of people in poverty in the UK (54%) live in a family that includes a disabled person.
In 2022/23, there were 8.7 million people in poverty who are disabled themselves, or who live with a disabled person, up from 6.9 million in 2019/20.
Todayβs wisdom - discussed at my lab:
"If you were born after Beyblade was released, youβre officially young."
Early career science peeps:
The next couple of years at least are going to be brutal for science funding. These resources will be crucially important.
Yes! I really needed this one!
Gorgeous!
I swear the UK is the temperature opposite of south east Asia. In S.E. Asia, it's hot and moist and here, it's cold and moist
We still look for participants in Oxford and London for our lazy eye study! Please share and I will be very happy!

Today 25 years ago, the first fMRI study got published that imposed layers on human MR images.
By Ravi Menon
doi.org/10.1002/(SIC...
It took another 8 years until the first layer profiles (plot of fMRI signal across layers).
(Looking at layer-fMRI history with Faruk Gulban)
Every three weeks, I bring homemade vegan baked goods to work, and I've been asked in the past to share the recipes. Finally, I've started writing them up on my website!
Here is the first one: Fluffly Garlic Bread (jujufars.owlstown.net/pages/5298-p... )
Graph showing daily temperature anomaly hitting peak of 2.06Β°C on November 17th, 2023 for the time period starting from 1940 to 2023.
There's a deep sense of sadness and loneliness seeing this record shattering graph.
November 17, 2023 was the first day in recorded history when the earth's surface was a whole 2Β°C hotter than pre-industrial times. Yet, there's barely any chatter about this staggering breach.
